This is day 73 of our journey.

Today we learn about the inheritance of Judah & Joseph (Ephraim & Manasseh). Joshua gives a detailed list of the cities and borders of their respective regions.  We also begin to hear a repeated refrain as the tribes are unable to drive the Canaanites completely from their land and begin to live among them.  This is ominous foreshadowing considering the command given by God through Moses.  A command with a warning: "Completely drive them out or they will be a stumbling block and cause you to worship other gods."

Join me in Joshua 15-17 as the Israelites doubt the power of God and settle for less than their full inheritance.

Joshua 15:63

The men of Judah were unable to conquer the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. The Jebusites live with the people of Judah in Jerusalem to this very day.  

Joshua 16:10

The Ephraimites did not conquer the Canaanites living in Gezer. The Canaanites live among the Ephraimites to this very day and do hard labor as their servants.  

Joshua 17:13

Whenever the Israelites were strong militarily, they forced the Canaanites to do hard labor, but they never totally conquered them.
