This is day 50 of our journey.

Again, the Israelites complain. This time, a man named Korah leads a rebellion against Aaron & Moses. God reveals his glory and his choice for leadership by allowing the earth to devour the leaders of the rebellion and then sends a plague against those who joined them. In the midst of opposition, Moses & Aaron faithfully atoned for the guilt of the people. God settled the issue of who is high priest once and for all by causing Aaron's staff to bud and produce almonds...a sign for the rebels to definitively know God's will on the matter! Finally, God restates his covenant with the Levites, clarifying their role as well as how their physical needs would be provided for.

Join me in Numbers 16-18 as God claims his own and promises them provision.

Key verses:

Numbers 16:32

and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, along with their households, and all Korah’s men, and all their goods.

Numbers 17:8

On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony – and the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted, and brought forth buds, and produced blossoms, and yielded almonds!

Numbers 18:7

But you and your sons with you are responsible for your priestly duties, for everything at the altar and within the curtain. And you must serve. I give you the priesthood as a gift for service, but the unauthorized person who approaches must be put to death.”
