Whether one looks at the historical period of the Middle Ages through the Reformation or our modern era through the potential Digital Reformation into technocracy, banking, war, and technology play a huge role. There are also those who chose to live their own way, apart from the system, whether that be religious or political, and secure for themselves, their families, and their local communities a haven from the ruling institutions vying for power.
