The baptism and filling of the Spirit at Pentecost was not a "random", or a "this might be nice, lets try this" thing. It was absolutely needed, necessary...it was very much "Purpose Driven", there was a definite divine  purpose for it.

-that purpose was to empower the disciples, believers, the church to carry out the mission...without which there would not be a chance...
