Summer in Pslams: Be an Encourager
Sunday, August 27, 2023
Psalms 121:1-8
Verses 1 and 2 - the writer encourages himself.
Verses 3 through 8 - the writer encourages others.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Encouragement is building others up.
Hebrews 10:24-25
Your words of encouragements stir up those around you moving them into two powerful forces - Love and Good Works
Parents and guardians we are starting a fresh school year. Find a way to encourage your kids.
Husbands and wives, your marriage will be a better marriage if you learn to speak life over your companion.
If you are a leader in any capacity you should desire to be an encourager.
Here’s a few ways you can encourage one another.
Words of Affirmation - Simple words like "You can do it" or "I believe in you" can work wonders.
Acts of Kindness - Small gestures of help and support demonstrate care and encouragement.
Active Listening - Sometimes, all someone needs is a listening ear.
Praying for One Another - Prayers are powerful forms of encouragement.
BE AN ENCOURAGER!
Thank you for joining us for our series, Summer in Psalms.

SUMMER IN PSALMS
PSALM 119
SUNDAY, JULY 30, 2023
Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible with 176 verses. It is, in fact, the very center of the written Bible
It is written about the Psalmist's love for the law of the Lord, or love for what the scripture does for the reader.
There are 8 basic words used to describe the Scriptures:
1. Law
2. Word
3. Judgements
4. Testimonies
5. Commandments
6. Statutes
7. Precepts
8. Word
"How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" Psalm 119:103
"Oh! How I love your law! It is my meditation all the day long!" Psalm 119:97
Moving from an immature appetite of this world to a mature desiring of God's Ways:
1. Recognize the WORD of God has the power to transform our lives. The law of the Lord is reformative, not restrictive.
Realizing that studying and consuming the Word is Christ formed in us. Meditating on Scripture FILLS your mind with the Words of God.
Consuming the Word and allowing it to become the light by which you navigate life. "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light on my path." Psalms 119:105
Practical ways to consume the Word:
1. Read it often and carefully - set a time and place
2. Teach it - it will cause you to press in
3. Listen to it being taught - don't miss an opportunity to hear the Word
4. Pray it - learn to use scripture as your prayer guide
5. Love it - determine your appetite and don't let the world and its passions determine your cravings
SUMMER IN PSALMS
HOLINESS IN THE HOUSE
Sunday, August 13, 2023
Psalms 15:1-5
This is a very interesting Psalm because it starts with questions.
There are only 51 questions in the book of Psalms and this chapter begins with two of those questions.
Who can dwell in your tent? Who can live on your holy mountain?
David proceeds to give us a list of requirements from those who wanted to come into the House of the Lord.
These are the requirements that David lays out for the people of God -
1. Walk blameless.
2. Do right.
3. Speak truth.
4. Do not slander.
5. Do no evil.
6. Take up no reproach against his friend.
7. Honor those who fear the Lord.
8. Keep our word even if it hurts us.
9. Do not take advantage of a neighbor in need.
10. Refuse the bribe against the innocent.
All these requirements are focused on our relationship with our fellowman.
Matthew 5:21-24
You love and serve Him by loving and serving them. - T.L. Osborn
Matthew 24:10
Jesus came…. This changes everything and changes nothing.
Hebrews 8:6
You don't get good to get God - you get God to get good. - Kentucky Proverb
We must have holiness in the house!
The world needs to see a holy church.
SUMMER IN PSALMS
PSALM 8
ITS ALL ABOUT YOUR POINT OF VIEW
Sunday, August 6, 2023
There are many kinds of Psalms - Prayers, Repentance, Praise, Songs, Celebrations, etc
But this is another level - this is adoration. This is about Worship!
Psalms 8:1
David takes us from ME to WE.
Psalms 8:2
His strength sustains us.
Psalms 8:3-4
David ask God the big WHY?
Psalms 8:5-8
This takes us back to the Genesis 1 - Adam and Eve, created in the image of God and living in the Garden with authority and dominion over all things.
You and I are created in the image of God!
God does not see us as incapable human called to live from failure to failure.
God sees us living from victory to victory.
Psalms 8:9
I feel like the over arching issue of this Psalm is about Identity.
How we see God!
How we see ourselves!
How God sees us!
True identity can only be found in times of worship.
It’s in His presence!
It’s when the glory of the Lord fills a space that we can see who we are in Him.
SUMMER IN PSALMS
PSALMS 51
Pastor Grant Perry
We want to see victims restored but what do we do with perpetrators?
God wants to restore both victims and perpetrators.
2 Samuel 11 and 12 tells the story of David’s greatest failure. He took advantage of Bathsheba. David murdered her husband to cover his sin. The prophet Nathan calls David out on his sin.
Psalms 51 is David’s response to the conviction in his heart after being confronted by the prophet.
Psalms 51:1-19
We all have issues that can mark our life but God has the ability to redeem and change the narrative of how we are remembered.
4 key points found in this chapter -
SUMMER IN PSALMS
PSALMS 23
Sunday, July 16, 2023
Psalms 22
Good shepherd - story of the cross - salvation - justification
Psalms 24
Chief shepherd - story of his Kingship - glorification
Psalms 23
Great shepherd - story of walk it out “in between” - sanctification
Psalms 23:1-6
Isaiah 53:6
V 1 Sheep exalts “MY” shepherd.
John 10:11
V 2/3 Sheep experiences the benefits of the “MY” shepherd.
V 4/6a Sheep have expectations from “MY” shepherd.
V 6b Sheep engagement for everything we just talked about.
SUMMER IN PSALMS
PSALM 1
SUNDAY, JULY 9, 2023
Psalm 1:1-6
There are two contrasting paths that take place over the course of three steps:
Pattern - The patterns of life which give life its shape.
Position - The result of those patterns creates a life that is marked by stability and production or dissolution.
Product - Ultimately these two things will result in one being “known by the Lord,” or perishing.
There are two different words which are translated as “blessed in our Bibles.”
1: Barukh: To receive God’s blessing and favor.
2: Ashray: Referred to the public image of one who is blessed. It’s something like “Living your best life.”
Psalm 1:1 can read: “A man is living his best life when he he doesn’t walk in step with the wicked”
Blessed ≠ Successful
Psalm 93:3-5
The good life is to be a source of life.
It seems that according to Psalm 1, living your best life has very little to do with whether or not you are comfortable or rich, and has much more to do with whether or not you are a source of life in the world.
The righteous one brings life and nourishment while the wicked becomes nothing.

BREAKING THE CYCLE
GOD’S RECIPE FOR A MIRACLE
Sunday, June 11, 2023
WHAT IF God wanted to use everything in your life for His purpose?
2 Timothy 2:19-21
When we have an iniquity that has been a part of our life since birth it can be challenging to define what is honorable and dishonorable and then allow God to use each vessel in our life (memories, failures, wins, etc…) to bring about His purpose and plan.
We must acknowledge our issues and face our failures so that God gets glory and the next generation walks in freedom.
2 Corinthians 4:7-11
God has chosen to use us, in all our messed up broken state to reveal His promise wholeness and His power to heal.
You can BREAK THE CYCLE!
2 Corinthians 3:3
Within you is a recipe for a miracle.
God operates in systems.
Genesis 8:22
System - 1. a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network. 2. a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized framework or method.
The devil works in cycles.
Cycle - a series of events that are regularly repeated in the same order.
Psalms 51:5
Family iniquities can come in all shapes and sizes.
Fear.
Sexual Sins.
Lying.
Addiction.
Poverty.
Laziness.
Chaos.
To break the cycles we must challenge three areas -
Inner Man - Psalms 51:6
Forgiveness - Psalms 32:1-2
Awareness - Philippians 3:13-14
Your frustration can birth your future!
Matthew 11:12

Matthew 24:3-14
Jesus gives is the prophetic Cliffs notes.
The full book is Revelation. Actually, the name of the book is The Revelation of Jesus Christ.
All the apocalyptic writings in the New Testament are not meant to be a scare tactic or a sci-fi movie. It is meant to lead us to the understanding that Jesus is in control.
Jesus tells us that in the midst of the darkness there will be a light - the proclamation of the Kingdom as a testimony to the nations!
God calls Moses to deliver Israel and gives him a plan.
While Moses stays on task Pharaoh tries to negotiate.
Exodus 8:25 - Go and sacrifice but stay in the land.
Exodus 8:28 - Go and sacrifice but don’t go to far.
Exodus 10:7 - Go and sacrifice but just the men can go because you have evil plans for the children.
Exodus 10:24 - Go and sacrifice but leave cattle and children.
Moses says -
Not only are we going, but we are taking our young and our old, our sons and daughters, our flocks and our herds and we will feast before the Lord!
Exodus 10:21-23
While the world around them was lost in a thick darkness the people of Israel enjoyed light in their dwellings.
John 14:27
1 Corinthians 2:7-12
As Spirit filled people, we are people of light, people of wisdom, people of understanding.
We are a Kingdom people and therefore operate as people of light.
We’ll leave the light on!

UNCONDITIONAL PRAISE
Sunday, October 2, 2022
This message was originally preached on March 22, 1992.
The book of Habakkuk is only 3 chapters long.
Habakkuk is one man’s journey from doubt to worship.
The difference in the opening verses and the closing verses is striking.
Habakkuk 3:17-19
He considers the possibility of the most important elements of his life and the lives of those around him…
Figs – Olives – Fruit – Meat – Flocks – Herbs
What does Habakkuk do?
He turns his eyes toward the Lord.
“YET” - In spite of all that…
“Rejoice” - finding joy or delight…
Have we acquired a habit of only praising God in the good times?
Do our spiritual antenna’s tell us when to praise?
Psalms 3:1-6
Psalms 149:5
Praise Him in your pain.
Dance in your dilemma.
THE BEAUTY OF REDEMPTION
Sunday, September 11, 2022
I don’t have to ask if you have ever failed God, failed yourself, or just failed in life because I know you have!
We all have!
Simon Peter no doubt felt the pain of failure many times.
He denied Jesus 3 times while Jesus was in the final hours of His life.
Mark 16:1-8
there are two words that are significant in the story of second chances.
Verse 7 - go, tell his disciples “and Peter”
Jesus comes to Peter and finds him in his guilt and shame and asks a simple question.
Do you love me?
This has nothing to do with redemption, but everything to do with how Peter will use his redemption.
What are you doing with your second chance?
Every time we fail we learn something about ourselves, we learn something about those around us, we learn something about God. He just wants us to love Him with a sincere heart.
1 John 2:1-6
He explains our second chance by using a word we may not be familiar with - Propitiation. This basically means that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sin so that we can have a second chance.
The perfect picture of that word - propitiation is found in the story of the Jews.
In Leviticus 16 God gives the plan for a Day of Atonement.
The priest was to kill a goat and sprinkle the blood on the Ark of the Covenant.
The priest would then lay hands on a live goat and confess the sins of the people and then run the goat out of camp as it symbolically carried the weight of the sin into the wilderness.
These two goats are the picture of what Jesus did on the cross. He both died and then rose again to carry our sins away.
MIRACLES: WHEN GOD DOESN’T
SUNDAY, MARCH 6, 2022
Galatians 4:13-14
Can God heal every disease? We believe the answer to be: Yes. The God of the Bible has power over all sickness, disease and death.
Why doesn’t he?
1: Because He (at least potentially) has sufficient reason not to do so.
Romans 8:28
2: Because performing every miracle we asked for may actually undermine his ultimate goal.
James 2:19
3: Because an eternal perspective changes everything.
Revelation 21:4
But what do I do now? We don’t stop praying, we don’t stop seeking, we don’t stop knocking… But in the meantime do what can we do.
1: Is there something you can do physically to alleviate the issue?
2: What can I draw from this?
“Once man's search for meaning of life is successful, it not only renders him happy but also gives him the capability to cope with suffering.”
-Viktor Frankl, 'Man's Search for Meaning'.
3: How can God be glorified in this?
Believe that He can, accept if he won’t.
MIRACLES
Part 1: Miracles
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2022
Mark 16:15-16
“The believers in miracles accept them (rightly or wrongly) because they have evidence for them. The disbelievers in miracles deny them (rightly or wrongly) because they have a doctrine against them.” G. K. Chesterton: Orthodoxy
• More than 94,000,000 Americans believe they have directly experienced a miracle.
• 67% of American believe miracles are possible today.
• 75% of 1,100 Doctors polled believe miracles can happen today.
Throughout the scriptures miracles are the way God identifies himself and asserts his dominance over other forces both physical and spiritual.
John 21:25
Jesus performs so many miracles in the gospels that scholars Gerd Theissen and Annette Merz write, "Just as the kingdom of God stands at the center of Jesus' preaching, so healings and exorcisms form the center of his activity."
John 14:12
Why were miracles so important to Jesus’ ministry?
"His miracles were a sign of the inbreaking of the kingdom or the rule-of God. They were a taste of the future, when healing will be complete. Jesus said, ‘But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you?’ These signs were a prelude to the entire restoration, when God will make a new heaven and a new earth. They remind us that a day is coming when there will be no more suffering or pain.” Craig Keener
Or as Eric Metaxas puts it:
“…what if the God who had created us and loved us had found a way to break through into our world and to offer us his hand, to say, If you take my hand I can take you back to where you once lived and to where you really belong, because your heart knows that you do?”
WINNING THE WAR IN YOUR MIND: TAKE YOUR MIND BACK
Sunday, June 13, 2021
Have you ever made an irrational decision?
Why do we do these things?
We have wires that are crossed in our mind.
Somewhere we have bought into a lie.
Colossians 2:6-7
Notice these words: Rooted - Built up - Established - Abounding.
Colossians 2:8
Notice these words: Cheat - Philosophy - Empty Deceit - Traditions of men - Principles of the world.
Philippians 4:6-9
Prayer (requesting)
Supplication (persistent asking)
Thanksgiving (remembering God’s power in your past)
4. Meditate (Eastern - empty the mind / Christian - fill the mind / fix the mind)
Psalms 119:15
Psalms 143:5
To take your mind back you must identify the wrong thought patterns and then determine to fix it.
Write it—Think it—Confess it—Believe it
WINNING THE WAR IN YOUR MIND
Sunday, June 6, 2021
Most of life’s battles are won and lost in your mind. Our lives are always moving in the direction of our strongest thoughts.
Proverbs 23:7
The Word of God and Spirit of God has the ability to transform your mind and renew your thought patterns.
2 Corinthians 10:3-4
Two key words:
1. Mighty - divine power - (Greek) Dumamis - dynamite - explosive power
2. Strongholds - walls - (Greek) Ochuroma - Military stronghold - fortress built on a high place
Proverbs 21:22
2 Corinthians 10:5
The Holy Spirit dynamite has the ability to cast down every argument
Take Captive - Capture with a spear or sword.
The sword is the word of God and it is the only offensive weapon we have. It’s time to blow the dust off the Bible and grab hold of that sword and speak the truth of God’s word over the lie of the devil!
FAVOR
Sunday, May 30, 2021
You and I can have the favor of God but it requires some action on our part. We have to position ourselves to experience God’s favor.
1 Chronicles 4:9-10
The Jabez Prayer List:
Bless me.
Enlarge my territory.
Be with me.
Keep me from evil.
Don’t let me cause anyone pain ever again.
James 4:3
We all love the last line of this verse - God gave him what he asked for.
Honor - 1 Chronicles 4:9
Love God - Proverbs 3:1-4
Hate what God hates - Revelation 2:6
Give gifts and offerings - Genesis 4:4
Be faithful - Genesis 6:7-8
Be righteous/blameless - Matthew 6:33 / Psalms 5:12
Be submitted - Esther 2:15
Be humble/have humility - 1 Peter :5:5
Get Wisdom - Proverbs 8:35
OUTSIDE ON THE INSIDE: LONELY IN A CROWDED ROOM
SUNDAY, MARCH 14, 2021
1 Kings 19:1-18
Contributing factors to the loneliness epidemic:
Social Media
Breakdown In Family Structure
Larger Societal Change (Industrial to digital economy)
The attributes that cause loneliness are part of human nature.
1 Kings 19:3
Reasons we are outside on the inside:
1 Kings 19:13-14
Romans 3:10-12,23
1 Kings 19:15-16
The cure to loneliness is pouring out.
Acts 20:35
2 Kings 2-12
A TIME TO BUILD: BUILDING A SPIRITUAL LEGACY
Sunday, February 28, 2021
We all want and hope to leave something behind besides a tombstone.
Jesus gives us the principle that if we will seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, everything else we need will be added to us. (Matthew 6:33)
A legacy is something handed down from the past. A spiritual legacy is faith being handed down from one generation to the next, from parents to children.
2 Timothy 1:5
Noah started off hearing the voice of God and passed it on to his sons.
After the flood, after his faithfulness, after hearing and obeying the voice of God, God then speaks to Noah and his sons.
Genesis 6:13 / 9:1 / 9:8-9
It’s not easy to raise godly children!
In fact, I would argue that it is humanly impossible. You must have God’s help!
Deuteronomy 5:9-10
In 1 Samuel 1:11 Hannah dedicates Samuel to the Lord. Dedicate your children to the Lord!
In Luke 2:27-28 Jesus was taken to the temple to be blessed. Pray for God’s blessing on your children!
Deuteronomy 6 gives a strong admonition to teach our children God’s Word, lead them into salvation, instruct them to obey God and remind them of God’s power.
Joshua 3 and 4 tell us to establish memorials for our children and tell the stories of God’s faithfulness.
God wants each of us, as parents, to build a spiritual legacy that will last!
TIME TO BUILD: RADICAL OBEDIENCE
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2021
Genesis 6:22
This verse is just a few words, but when you consider the size of God’s request - this is HUGE!
Disobedience is the cause for ALL of the pain in the world today. It started with Adam and Eve disobeying God and we are still feeling the effects of it today.
King Saul is disobedient and the prophet Samuel came to deliver a message from God:
1 Samuel 15:22-23
Obedience is better than sacrifice.
Hebrews 11 is referred to as the Hero’s of Faith or Hall of Faith. Really, the people mentioned were just radically obedient.
Radical obedience is rooted in revelation. Revelation leads you to act in faith. Your step of faith will be rewarded.
Revelation - What, How, When, Where, Who, Why
Risk - Walk by faith
Reward - Now and Later
God is looking for total and radical obedience - that is where the blessing starts.
A TIME TO BUILD: HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD
Sunday, February 14, 2021
Genesis 6:13-22
Noah builds this boat; and I have to believe at times he was discouraged, fearful, tired, probably even confused. But, he kept building because he heard the voice of God.
In the midst of God speaking there is brief mention of a coming covenant that wouldn’t come for another 100 years or more.
Genesis 9:8-11
Because Noah heard the voice of God and followed God’s clear and concise plan, God established a covenant with him, his children and his children, children.
Are you listening when God speaks?
Over and over in scripture God calls to us, “He that has ears to hear what the Spirit is saying…”
God wants to converse with us but we must be willing to hear.
How does God speak?
Logos / Rhema
Dreams / Visions - Judges, Prophets, Kings, Apostles
Trustworthy People - Spiritual Leaders / Strong Relationships
Purpose and Timing are a powerful force.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-17
What is God calling you to do?
Sunday, February 7, 2021
How do we navigate the age in which we live?
We can play hide and seek with the devil and hope he doesn’t find us.
We can stick our head in the sand and act like nothing is happening.
We can rise up as righteous people and watch God use us to do something great!
This is a Time to Build!
Genesis 6:5-9
In Genesis 1:31 God finished His six creative days, looked it over and said, “This is Good.”
God was grieved at the sin and degradation of humanity. The coming flood was simply the reaping of their evil actions.
In the face of what appeared to look like hopelessness is a man who caught the eye of God.
James 4 tells us that if we will draw near to God - God will draw near to us.
You have the ability to position yourself to experience the favor of the God.
Favor has always been in the nature of God. How do we position ourselves to find the favor of God?
Verse 9 reveals how Noah positioned himself to experience the favor of God - He was a just man, perfect in his generation, and he walked with God.
God is calling us to live a holy, righteous life so that with Him we can rise up and build.
God didn’t call Noah while the world was decent and living “okay lives.” God called Noah in the worst of times to reveal the best of messages.
God’s favors gives us:
HOLY, I AM, BE YE SERIES
PURSUING PERSONAL HOLINESS
Sunday, January 17, 2021
As the world becomes more and more unholy you and I must become more and more aware of our relationship to Jesus and that is measured by our personal holiness.
Hebrews 12:14
Leviticus 19:1-2
Romans 12:2
Titus 2:11-14
How do we move from sinfulness to sanctification?
We should live a holy life separated from the world.
How do we separate ourselves from the world?
Colossians 3:2
Jesus warns us about losing heart. “losing heart” = with/in/by evil
Colossians 3:3-10
5 things that I think can help you pursue personal holiness.
1.) Take our sin seriously and call sin – sin.
2.) Confess our sin to God and to others.
3.) Strive to do what is right in God’s eyes and obey His word.
4.) Say “no” to ungodliness and worldly passions.
5.) Pursue holiness over happiness.
HOLY - I AM, BE YE SERIES: PROTECTING THE HOLY
Sunday, January 24, 2021
We must protect that which is sacred.
2 Kings 20:12-17
Holiness is a treasure that we should protect as such.
Part of protecting the holy is to keep it sacred and live it out in honor to God.
Matthew 6:1-4
Matthew 6:16-18
Your motive matters
3. Build healthy, spiritual boundaries
Deuteronomy 22:8
Although this was a law that pointed to a physical fence or a type of guard rail around the top of the roof, God, in His wisdom, saw this as a potential problem and made a law to cover the accident that might happen.
The Jews carried this law a step farther. They chose to build a fence around the Torah in order to protect the holy.
Holiness is not meant to keep us down and hold us back from life but to open doors and give us an opportunity to live the abundant life.
BOLD FAITH
Sunday, November 22, 2020
As believers, if there is anything we should be known for it should be “Bold Faith.”
Matthew 8:5-13
James 2:18
Hebrews 11:1
“For the modern world will accept no dogmas upon any authority; but it will accept any dogmas upon no authority.”
—G.K. Chesterton
2 Chronicles 20:20
God wants to do great things but He’s waiting on you and me to act in Bold Faith.
BOLD FOCUS
Sunday, November 15, 2020
The writer of the Song of Solomon gives us a hidden nugget in 2:15 - It’s the little foxes that spoil the vines. Most of our distractions are not huge, glaring issues. They are small things and the many small things become a part of a greater problem.
The church has an option right now! You and I are in the midst of a choice. It’s as though we are in the middle of the slow motion movie bit where we will choose to stay focused on Jesus or get distracted but the world around.
Matthew 6:33 - That “SEEK” is about your FOCUS and that focus must be on the Kingdom.
If we fail to focus we are destined to fail.
Philippians 3:12-14
This is no time to lose sight of what matters and get carried away with things that have no internal value.
2 Chronicles 20:5-15 / 20
BOLD: PEACE
Exodus 20:18-20
Deuteronomy 31:6
Matthew 6:25
Isaiah 41:10
Isaiah 40:27-29
1: Know who’s in control.
2: Remember the plan.
Isaiah 41:11-13

1 Peter 1:3-4

Romans 15:13
“Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ…”
Titus 2:13

Matthew 6:25-27,34
BOLD CONVICTIONS
Sunday, November 1, 2020
Daniel prophecies about the age in which we live and talks about how the enemy will wear out the saints. That refers to persecution, or a chiseling away, until they surrender.
How should we live in this present world?
Daniel 3:16-18
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego had a conviction about worship and refused to surrender to the pressure to worship anyone or anything other than the one true God.
Daniel 6:10
Daniel had a conviction about prayer. It wasn’t a small thing, it was a big deal. He had a place. He had a time. He had a routine.
Daniel 6:10
The word “conviction” is a bit of an archaic word. We now have words like tolerance, compromise, and cultural norms, so let’s clarify - What is a conviction?
Guardrails - They keep us aware of the danger.
Identity - They keep us remind of who we are.
Strength - They give us courage to stand in the face of sin and evil.
Roots - They hold you steady in the face of the adversity.
Ephesians 4:11-15
The duty of the five-fold ministry team here at Life Chapel is to equip you so that you can build up and maintain convictions (understand what you believe and why).
What do I need to do to develop and maintain bold convictions?
In Acts 4 we find a few key elements of HOW we develop boldness:
Acts 4:8 - Be filled with the Holy Spirit
Acts 4:13 - Spend time with Jesus and you will see and hear
Acts 4:19 - Walk in radical obedience to the voice of the Lord
Acts 4:29 - Declare your boldness
Acts 4:31 - Pray
BOLD: WORSHIP
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2020
1: We believe worship is the standard heart posture for the Christian, meaning everything we do in life we do as an act of worship to the almighty God.
2: We believe that corporate worship, that is worship with the body of believers, is a special moment to interact with the Holy Spirit in a way that can strengthen and encourage us as a body of believers.
3: We believe worship requires expression. This means that while there are times for meditation, a heart that is consumed with worship to God will express that by moving, singing, dancing, jumping, weeping and laughing.
2 Samuel 6:16, 20-22
Luke 7:36-50
Bold worship makes the worshipper humble.
Bold worship draws judgement from proud people.
Bold worship flies in the face of practicality.
Acts 16:23-34
Bold worship changes atmospheres.
BOLD THINKING
Sunday, October 18, 2020
By the very nature of our position in God we should be bold believers.
At Life Chapel we are all about, “Encountering Jesus and Empowering People to change everything”.
When we see with eyes of faith, our heart leaps toward bold thinking.
What stands in the way of you thinking big, bold, audacious thoughts?
Your mental diet
Joshua 1:8 - Meditate on the Word and be
successful
Psalms 1:3 - Meditate on the Word and prosper
Philippians 4:8 - Think on these things. . .
Your loose ends
1 Peter 1:13 - Gird up the loins of your mind
Your position in prayer
Ephesians 6:18 - Pray in the Spirit Galatians 5:17 - Walk in the Spirit
1 Corinthians 12 - Prophecy in the Spirit Romans
12:2 - Renewing of the mind
BETTER TOGETHER: BLOOD AND BODY
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2020
1 Timothy 3:14
Paul is giving instruction to Timothy
You will manifest, what you put your eyes on. What is poured into you, will pour out of you.
If we are not rightly connected to Jesus, we cannot rightly manifest Jesus.
Luke 22:14
If you miss the demonstration He shows us when He goes to the cross, then you will miss that the resurrecting power residing in Him also resides in you. And instead of living with power you live as a spectator.
You are not just forgiven! You are free, made new, secure, in Him!
God gave His body and His blood
Hebrews 9:14
His blood covers our sin while also opening the path to freedom, SO THAT we manifest Him.
What kind of Jesus are you manifesting?
The blood of Jesus delivers you, but the body of Christ shapes you. The blood of Jesus does the saving, but the body does the shaping. The blood is what delivers the baby, but the momma keeps that baby breathing.
We are born again by blood and need to be shaped into righteousness.
BETTER TOGETHER
WE NEED ONE ANOTHER

Proverbs 27:17
Many of the stories in the Bible revolve around groups of people functioning together for a common good and a common goal.
When the people of Israel gathered on the Sabbath they made their way to the Temple singing as they went.
These are called the Songs of Ascent.
Psalms 122:1
Psalms 124:8
Psalms 126:3
Psalms 133:1
The Lord's Prayer is not a solo prayer.
Matthew 6:9-13 (Look for words "Our", "Us", and "We.")
Throughout scripture we find the “one another’s”.
“Be at peace with each other.” (Mark 9:50)
“Love one another” (John 15:17)
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love...” (Romans 12:10)
“Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10)
“Live in harmony with one another...” (Romans 12:16)
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you...” (Romans 15:7)
“Instruct one another.” (Romans 15:14)
“Have equal concern for each other.” (I Corinthians 12:25)
“Serve one another in love.” (Galatians 5:13)
“Carry each other’s burdens...” (Galatians 6:2)
“Be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)
“Be kind and compassionate to one another...” (Ephesians 4:32)
“Forgiving each other...” (Ephesians 4:32)
“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.” (Ephesians 5:19)
“Bear with each other...” (Colossians 3:13)
“Admonish one another (Colossians 3:16)
“Encourage each other...”(I Thessalonians 4:18)
“Build each other up...” (I Thessalonians 5:11)
“Spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10:24)
“Pray for each other.” (James 5:16)
The greatest investment you can make is connecting your kids to a faith family. There is something about spiritual roots in a faith family that carries you during the tough times.
How did the first church not only survive but thrive in the face of persecution?
Acts 2:42-47
We are better together.
Matthew 12:46, 48-50 ESV
The real sin of marriage today is not adultery or lack of ‘adjustment’ or ‘mental cruelty.’ It is the idolization of the family itself, the refusal to understand marriage as directed toward the Kingdom of God… It is not the lack of respect for the family, it is the idolization of the family that breaks the modern family so easily, making divorce its almost natural shadow.
Alexander Schmemann, For the Life of the World: Sacraments and Orthodoxy
1: Idolizing the nuclear family teaches our children to live for pleasure above purpose.
2: When we idolize the nuclear family we fail to give our children the larger context and community they need to survive as a Christian in a world that is hostile to their faith.
2a: Faith For Exiles observes four types of young people in the church:
1:Prodigals/Ex Christians
2:Nomad/Unchurched
3:Habitual Churchgoers
4:Resilient Disciples
88% of Resilient Disciples say that the church is somewhere they feel that they belong.
82% are connected to a Christian Community
77% had adult friends from church while growing up
64% feel emotionally close to someone at church
3: Finally idolizing the Nuclear Family leaves no room for those who have chosen singleness, are divorced, or the widows/widowers.
1 Corinthians 7:32-34 ESV
Suggestion 1:
Show up.
Acts 2:46 ESV
Suggestion 2:
Teach your child how to discern trustworthy authority by talking it through when they have a negative experience with an adult in your community.
Suggestion 3:
Give your family to the Lord and trust that He will give them back to you.

APOCALYPSE NOW? THE COMPETING SPIRITS
SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, 2020
We know which spirit will win in the end, but which spirit will win the battle in your life?
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
This is no time to get nervous or scared, but we must submit to the right the Spirit.
Both the book of Proverbs and the book of Revelation present to the reader a choice between two women.
Proverbs 2:16-18
Proverbs 31:10-12
This is more than wisdom to marry right and a statement against sexual immorality.
The two women represent two spirits.
Proverbs 4:5-9
In apocalyptic imagery, a woman is often a symbol for a spiritual body.
Revelation 17:3-6
Revelation 19:6-8
Galatians 5:19-21 - Works of flesh.

APOCALYPSE NOW? JUDGMENT AND WITNESS
SUNDAY, AUGUST 9, 2020
There are three sets of seven judgments:
The Seven Seals - Chapters 6-8
The Seven Trumpets - Chapters 8-10
The Seven Bowls - Chapter 16
These three sets of seven show us key aspects of how and why the Earth receives judgment, as well as what God’s desire for the human race is.
Revelation 6:1-2
Revelation 6:9-10
Revelation 6:12
Revelation 6:15-17
Revelation 8:4-5
Revelation 9:20-21
Revelation 11:3-4
Revelation 11:7, 9-14
Revelation 16:1
Revelation 16:11
The Seals are brought on as a result of sin on the Earth.
The Trumpets allowed Satan to have his way.
The Bowls were directly from the wrath of God.
Revelation 11:12-13
When the church's faithful witness testifies to the justness of God’s punishment, people give glory to God.
How do we fulfill our role as faithful witnesses?
We walk in power.
We live prophetically.
We are willing to be a “torment” to those who hate God.
We are filled with his Spirit.
APOCALYSPE NOW? EAT THE BOOK
Sunday, August 2, 2020
We have a record of Satan manifesting in some kind of physical form only twice in the Bible:
When he spoke to Eve in the Garden of Eden.
When he tempted Jesus during his 40 days on the mountain.
In both records Satan was attacking or questioning the Word of God.
Revelation 10:1-2
Revelation 10:8-11
Obedience = Sweetness
Disobedience = Bitterness
Ezekiel 3:3
Romans 10:17
Hebrews 4:12
The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true and its decisions are immutable.
Read it to the wise; believe it to be safe and to be holy. It contains the light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of hell are disclosed.
Christ is the grand subject, our good design, and the glory of God is its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure.

FLIPPING THE SCRIPT
SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2020
If we follow the script we hear through the media and various cultural lenses, we will miss the power and promise of the Kingdom.
John 12:49-50
In Matthew 5,6, and 7 we find the Sermon on the Mount; a message that would push people towards a relationship rather than religion.
Over and over Jesus said, “You have heard it said... but I say...”
Jesus FLIPPED THE SCRIPT on:
Money: From minimal giving to abundant, joyful giving.
Justice: Not an eye for eye, but turn the other cheek.
Discipleship: God is not on your list He is your priority.
Treasures: It’s not about this world and materialism, but an unseen Kingdom.
Anxiety: Don’t worry; seek the Kingdom and His righteousness.
Spirituality: From a legal system to a thing called grace.
Temple: Not a place to go, but a place to be.
Eternal Hope: “You say, Lord, Lord, but Jesus says He doesn’t know you.”
1 John 2 reminds us we are in this world, not of it!
Galatians 5:16-18
Throughout Scripture we are called to come out and be separate!
Romans 12:1-2
COMMUNITY GROUP QUESTIONS
1. What is the one topic you hate to hear about from people who flip the script?
2. Who or what established your worldview growing up?
3. What did God say to you during this message that made you pause and process?
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!
Next Sunday is the Kids Chapel Outdoor Celebration! This will be held during our 10:45am gathering for ages 4-11. Nursery will be provided for this event. Children age 2-3 are welcome to participate with one parent to supervise.
Don’t Call It A Comeback: Fatherhood
The most influential man in history only wanted to be a dad.
Gen. 17:5
Children with absent fathers have 4x the risk of living in poverty.
They are 7x as likely to become pregnant as a teen.
They are 2x as likely to be obese.
They are 279% more likely to carry guns and deal drugs.
They are much more likely to go to prison, to abuse drugs and alcohol, and to drop out of school.
There are two ways to view fatherlessness and its effect on society:
1: The Nuclear family is merely a cultural norm, the negative effects of a fatherless home are due to social stigma placed on children because of their lack of a nuclear family.
2: The Nuclear family is a creation by God as an ideal, the negative effects of fatherlessness are due to the unfulfilled role that children need to develop as God has intended.
We believe in number 2.
How did Abraham become the most influential man in history?
1: He obeyed when God called him out.
Genesis 12:1-4
2: He had faith that God was who He said He was.
Genesis 15:5-6
3: He trusted God with everything.
Genesis 22:1-3
DON’T CALL IT A COMEBACK:
WHEN GOD GETS YOU IN A JAM
Sunday, June 14, 2020
Sometimes God gets us out of a jam we got ourselves into.
There are other times God gets you in a jam so He can show Himself mighty and reveal His Glory.
Exodus 14:1-4
God positions Israel between two mountains, with the Red Sea in front of them. God was about to use an impossible situation to reveal His glory!
Israel “wandering in wilderness” was not wandering at all. God was making them warriors, culling the herd, and setting the people up to walk into a new land.
Psalms chapter 30 tells us, “Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.”
1 Corinthians 4:5
Sometimes we are too quick to judge a matter before God has completed His work.
If you are positioned in the middle of a situation with no certain outcome, stay under the cloud by day and the fire by night. You will get to your promise land!
COMMUNITY GROUP QUESTIONS
1. Who was the friend that always got you into a jam?
2. Has God ever delivered you out of a situation of your own making?
3. What situation in your life have you judged too quickly, only to realize God was doing something glorious?

PROMISE KEEPER: THE PROMISE FOR EMPOWERMENT Sunday, May 31, 2020
In Genesis 1 the “spirit” moves over the face of the waters.
Then, God breathes into man the “breath of life.”
God’s original plan was that His Spirit would be with us and in us.
Over the next several millennia the Spirit of God came upon both men and women who were judges, warriors, prophets, priest and kings, giving them help, strength and direction.
Psalms 139:7-12
God starts planting the seed of the “infilling of His Spirit.”
God is with His people, but He longs to be in them.
Zechariah 4:6
Ezekiel 36: 27
Joel 2:28-29
John 16:7
Acts 1:8
Acts 2:1-4
In Genesis 11 God used language to cause the people to operate in various cultures and kingdoms.
Today, God uses the language of the Spirit to draw people together, into the culture of the Kingdom.
PROMIS KEEPER: THE PROMISE OF POWER
MOTHER’S DAY, MAY 10, 2020
Acts 1:8 - You shall receive POWER!
How do I walk in the authority God has designed for me?
Recognize your domain. Draw a circle around your area of influence and claim it.
Proverbs 31
Luke 10:19
Your domain is physical and spiritual
When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you receive a promise, revelation, a future and hope
When and where a promise is conceived, the enemy comes in with “promise genocide”to destroy it by fear, guilt, doubt and trouble
God keeps his promises! Be of good courage!
“So many faith based people cry out to God every day asking for help, crying out as if they are powerless to do anything and they are being attacked left and right.... and God answers from heaven and says, "Walk in your authority!" -Sandi Krakowski
PREPARING FOR THE NEW NORMAL
PASSOVER SUNDAY
SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 2020
This is a time where we need to prepare for our new reality.
Exodus 12:2
As people of faith, I believe we should start anticipating the NEW.
Exodus 12:3b
Under the new covenant we know Jesus is the Lamb. He was the lamb that was slain for the sins of all mankind.
This is the time to make Jesus the Lord of your life and Lord of your house.
Exodus 12:7
This is a picture of Jesus on the cross, shedding His blood for you and I.
Exodus 12:11a
During the nine previous plagues, the people were not ready for their deliverance.
God tells them to get dressed and be ready.
Ephesians 6:10-18
We must put on the whole armor of God.
Exodus 12:11b
What do you need to do now to prepare yourself for what’s ahead?
This is your staff - this is what you will lean on for the journey into the new normal.
Exodus 12:11 says, “So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.”
Don’t waste time as we prepare for the new normal!
HEALED SERIES: ANXIETY
SUNDAY, MARCH 7, 2020
Anxiety: A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease; typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
Excessive uneasiness and apprehension can become a disorder, and can be accompanied by compulsive behavior or panic attacks.
The Scripture boldly instructs us, “Take every thought captive!”
A few scientific facts:
1. 60-80 percent of visits to primary care physicians have a stress-related component.
2. 75-98 percent of mental, physical, and behavioral illnesses stem from one’s thought life.
3. We have learned more about the brain in the last 20 years than in all of history combined.
4. All toxic lifestyle habits and crimes stem from a toxic thought.
Both God and the Devil operate on the level of thought.
The interrupting thought to an out of control mental spiral is CHOICE.
Romans 8:5 - To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace!
FAITH displaces the lie that we are not able to be free from anxiety.
The FAITH language disrupts the language of the LIE.
Many times we try to fight a “feeling” with a “feeling”. To fight anxiety we must realize FAITH is not a feeling, it is a thought life. We can fight a thought on the level of thought.
The reason we are fruitless in overcoming anxiety is because the cares of life Jesus talked about in Matthew, rise up and choke out the Word of God that carries the promise of freedom.
Anxiety is not bigger than GOD!
Community Group Questions:
1. Have you ever been anxious about something that had a funny ending?
2. What are ways to take every thought captive?
3. What are examples of the language of Faith?

HEALED SERIES: GRIEF AND LOSS
SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2020
Isaiah 53:1-5
God’s ultimate goal is that we are healed and healthy.
Isaiah 61:1 - This is the verse Jesus reads to launch His ministry in Luke 4.
Grieving differs from family to family, culture to culture.
John 8:32
7 Defense Mechanisms:
1. Denial or selective forgetfulness
2. Minimizing
3. Blaming others
4. Blaming yourself
5. Rationalizing
6. Intellectualizing
7. Hostility
Job gives us a beautiful picture of how we are to grieve:
1. Pay attention
2. Wait in the confusing in-between
3. Embrace the gift of limits
4. Climb the ladder of humility
Job 19:25
We will acknowledge, grieve, and pray.
Today I acknowledge the loss of my:
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Advice from people who have walked through grief and loss:
1. Talk about it with trusted people.
2. “Check in” on people going through times of grief.
3. It’s not helpful to hear, “If you need anything let me know.” Be proactive!
4. Feel free to share a story or a meaningful thought about the lost family member. If it involves a child or miscarriage, include the mother and father in the condolences, not just the mother.
5. Remember the passed loved one by name; it is comforting to hear their name spoken aloud.
Community Group Questions:
1. How has your family, culture, or personality taught you to deal with grief and loss?
What defense mechanisms have you used in dealing with grief and loss? (See notes for 7 defense mechanisms)
Considering Job 19:25, how have you found God in times of grief and loss?

HEALED SERIES: BOUNDARIES
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2020
Emotionally healthy people accept the limits God has given them and are willing to build healthy boundaries to live within those limits.
Jesus is our chief example of what it means to have healthy emotional spirituality.
Mark 1:11 - Once Jesus knew His identity, He was equipped to create healthy boundaries.
We need boundaries to protect our identity.
You cannot live out your purpose if your identity is open for discussion.

DETERRENTS AND ACCELERATION
OF ASSIGNMENTS
REVIVAL SERIES
Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020
In Ezra we will find deterrents and accelerants to prophetic fulfillment your assignment.

The acceptance of compromise will become something that dominates your private world.
Numbers 33:50
Do you want acceleration of assignment then ask these questions;
What areas of flesh have I allowed in my life that has caused me to become desensitized to the moving of the Holy Spirit?
Can I say the antichrist is here and he has nothing in me?
What areas have I given place to the devil and made it ok that my enemy is in my house?
Community Group Discussion Questions-

The History Of Revival
A: Biblical Revivals
1: The Cycle of Apostasy
Ex: Nehemiah’s rebuilding of the wall was probably one of the most obvious examples of a Cycle-Of-Apostasy-Revival.
2: Acts 2
B: “Theological” Revivals
1: Councils and Monastic Groups
The key difference between theological revivals and the later “Awakenings,” was the lack of involvement by the average individual. Christianity was cultural, as opposed to an individual matter. So the recorded movements during this time happen among the religious elite.
2: Reformation (Martin Luther)
C: The Seeds Of Revival
1: The Moravians Century of Intersession
1720’s-1820’s
D: Wesley to Azusa
1: Wesley in Great Britain Whitefeild in America
2: Whitefeild: The First Great Awakening
3: Kentucky Camp Meetings
4: Charles Finny: The Second Great Awakening
5: Azusa
E: Common Conditions of Revival
1: High Religiosity/Low Morality
2: Emotionally Engaging
3: Pressed forward by a single individual or small group
F: Common Attributes of Revivalists
1: Highly Disciplined
2: Lack of Rebellion
None of the Revivalists from Luther to Wesley and Whitefield intended to leave their organizations but rather saw themselves as internal reformers. Wesley never allowed the Methodists to meet on Sunday’s encouraging adherents to supplement their Anglicanism with the “methods.”
3: Prophetic Edge (Holy Discontentment)
2a: Lack Of Distraction
4: Desperation
3a: Prayer
3b: Fasting
3c: “Holy Living”
3d: Mission
Whitefield died at 56 while preaching an ever age of 10 sermons a week. In his lifetime Wesley rode over 250,000 miles on horseback, enough to cover the globe 10 times. Asbury never married, never owned more at one time than he could carry on a single horse, and in slept in 10,000 different homes in his travels refusing to spend money on lodging that could be given to the poor.
Feasts
1: Feasts force us to prepare.
John 14:1-4 ESV
A: Preparation is an act of anticipation
B: Preparation exerts your control.
C: Preparation brings peace
2: Feasts call us to slow down.
3: Feasts allow us to eat our history.
Leviticus 23

Much of life revolves around spoken words. Words were used by God to create, communicate, and to collaborate.
Ephesians 4:14-15 – “Speak the truth in love that we may grow…”
2 Peter 3:18 - “Grow in Grace and Knowledge.”
“Talk to yourself of past successes, of times you've done really well, of times you've overcome obstacles, of times you've felt good.” (Clifford N. Lazarus, Ph.D.)
“Hospitable communication is the reciprocal sharing of who we really are and what we really think, in loving environments and in loving ways, to promote one another’s growth.” (Terry A. Smith, The Hospitable Leader, pp. 131)
Styles of communication:
Analytical / Visionary
Methodical / Connected
Why we should talk to God about everything?
Prayer is simply having a conversation with God.

Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
Living with passion is a choice and a decision, not a personality type.
There is so much power in the home. As Pastor Smith puts it, “Home is an atmosphere created by your presence.” Your very presence can create a climate where dreams are birthed and purpose is fostered.

REMAINING IN A LEAVING CULTURE
Sunday, October 27, 2019

The maxim divide et imperahas been attributed to Philip II of Macedon. It was utilized by the Roman ruler Julius Caesar and the French emperor Napoleon.
This scheme of war, that we all somewhat familiar with, is called Divide and Conquer or as it was originally called Divide and Rule
In 2 Corinthians 2 Paul is writing to the people about importance of forgiveness and then tells them, as well as, us “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11)

There were skilled players of music.
The people had a heart to worship.
David worships with his whole heart.
Michal, his wife (Saul’s daughter), despised him in his worship.
There are two competing spirits when it comes to the idea of worship:
1. The spirit of worship
Mocking is rooted in an unawareness of the presence of God.
Unawareness of His presence makes worship embarrassing and leads to barrenness, producing no benefit.
David had a heart of worship and gratitude.
Passion and hunger for God’s presence produces amazing benefits.
David was able to set aside religious structures and protocols and go directly in the presence of God.
God gave David a promise that his lineage would forever sit on the throne of Israel and that the blessing and favor of God would rest on all who followed him.

God is a covenant God. But He has no need to deconstruct a covenant to establish a new covenant.
2 Peter 1:5-9

If we fail to “add to” we are called “shortsighted” or “blind” even missing the point of our redemption.

“HAVE FAITH IN GOD!!!”
There is no safer place to put your trust than, IN GOD!
The Life Chapel Vision and Mission is that we, “Encounter Jesus and Empower People to Change ___________.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
Throughout Deuteronomy God uses Moses, and then Joshua, to REMIND the people of who God is, what God has done, and how God wants them to live.
In Psalms 48 the sons of Korah are instructed to:
Walk about Zion,
And go all around her.
Count her towers;

Paul said, “He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly and above all we can ask or think.”

Scaling Up
Scale: The relative size or extent of something.
1 Peter 3:1-13
How can we live with God’s scale in mind?
1: Be Reminded.
1 Peter 3:1
This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder,
2: Rehearse Scripture
1 Peter 3:2
2 that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles,
3: Reject Sinful Cynicism
1 Peter 3:3-5
3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
4: Always Have Eternity In Mind.
2 Peter 3:10-13
Genesis 28: 10-20
When we come to Jesus, not only is our eternity changed, our current condition is transformed.
Following Jesus is not just a Gospelof Forgiveness- It is a Gospel of Transformation.
In Matthew 16 we find Peter declaring who Jesus really is.
When you come to Jesus and begin to follow him completely, he will change your internal disposition.
Galatians 2:9
Revelation 3:12
As you follow Jesus closely and walk in HIS ways, you walk in who He says you are.
2 Chronicles 3:17- Solomon gives us a prophetic picture of things to come. One pillar he names Jachin (He may establish),the other he names Boaz (In him is strength).
As a father, when you go from laying down as the bedrock and are set up as a pillar, God establishes you, activates you, and equips you to bring strength to those around you. He will anoint you to do great things.

The people of the OT experienced the presence of God through a priest, the Ark of the Covenant and animal sacrifices.
When Jesus Christ arrived, He came with a promise... A promise that HIS Spirit would no longer just be WITH us but IN us.
John 3:1-8 - The key point in this whole story is that Jesus called Nicodemus and us to be born again.
Acts 1:4-8 - This Holy Spirit baptism would come with power and that power would give them the ability to share the story of God.
This actually takes place in Acts 2, 8, 10, 19.
Every time people were filled with the Spirit there was a dramatic life change
Ephesians 5:17-18 - The tense of the Greek term “be filled” makes it clear that such a “Spirit-filled” condition does not stop with a single experience, but is maintained by continually being filled as commanded here.
We are called to BE filled and STAY filled with the Spirit.
You must learn to pray in the Spirit, in other tongues, in a “prayer language.”

Acts 2:1-4 and 42-47
“According to the survey, 54 percent of respondents said they sometimes or always feel that no one knows them very well. Even more (56 percent) reported sometimes or always feeling like the people they’re surrounded with “are not necessarily with them.”
1: We choose loneliness because it is physically easier in the short term.
2: We choose loneliness because it is emotionally easier in the short term.
Acts 20:35
35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
3: We choose loneliness because we believe we are okay on our own… until we aren’t.
“When trees grow together, nutrients and water can be optimally divided among them all so that each tree can grow into the best tree it can be. If you "help" individual trees by getting rid of their supposed competition, the remaining trees are bereft. They send messages out to their neighbors in vain, because nothing remains but stumps. Every tree now muddles along on its own, giving rise to great differences in productivity. Some individuals photosynthesize like mad until sugar positively bubbles along their trunk. As a result, they are fit and grow better, but they aren't particularly long-lived. This is because a tree can be only as strong as the forest that surrounds it. And there are now a lot of losers in the forest. Weaker members, who would once have been supported by the stronger ones, suddenly fall behind. Whether the reason for their decline is their location and lack of nutrients, a passing malaise, or genetic makeup, they now fall prey to insects and fungi.
But isn't that how evolution works? you ask. The survival of the fittest? Their well-being depends on their community, and when the supposedly feeble trees disappear, the others lose as well. When that happens, the forest is no longer a single closed unit. Hot sun and swirling winds can now penetrate to the forest floor and disrupt the moist, cool climate. Even strong trees get sick a lot over the course of their lives. When this happens, they depend on their weaker neighbors for support. If they are no longer there, then all it takes is what would once have been a harmless insect attack to seal the fate even of giants.”
The Hidden Life Of Trees
1: Sacrificial communal life brings health.
2: Sacrificial communal life disrupts Satan’s plans.
3: Sacrificial Communal life ensures we will have people there for us when we need it most.
Satan knows if he can hinder your prayer life, he has a greater chance of leading you to believe another lie, and farther away from God.
John 8:44- …He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him…
Prayer should come from the mind and the mouth!
Luke 8:40-43- Prayer is communication.
Luke 8:44-48- The beauty of the immediate.
Luke 8:49- Don’t bother Jesus.
Luke 8:50-53- Jesus walks past the doubt, fear, unbelief, and confusion, right into the middle of your problem.
Luke 8:54a- If you’ll stick with Jesus, you start ejecting people and things from your life that are standing in the way of your miracle.
Luke 8:54b-55- Your waiting gave you an immediately.

One of the biggest lies Satan sells is, “GOD HATES YOU”.
New York Times ran a fascinating article called “Googling for God.” The question that came in at number three: “Why does God hate me?”
“Wrong conclusions” become reality and the lie of the enemy takes on the dark colors of pain, rejection, revenge, and even self-hatred.

John 1:35-51
In our reading of Scripture we find people bringing people to Jesus.
Andrew brought Simon Peter
Andrew brought the boy with the lunch that fed thousands
Andrew brought some seekers to Jesus in John 12
Philip brought Nathanael
Surveys show that 80-90 percent of all born-again believers come to faith as a
result of a relationship they had with another believer.
Why does this matter?
We have to get people to Jesus because He’s the answer!
His ability to transform a life. Transformation happens in His presence. Healing happens in His presence
Hope happens in His presence
Salvation happens in His presence

Exodus 10 Notes
Exodus 32:7-14
Dallas Willard says:
God's "response" to our prayers is not a charade. He does not pretend that he is answering our prayer when he is only doing what he was going to do anyway. Our requests really do make a difference in what God does or does not do. The idea that everything would happen exactly as it does regardless of whether we pray or not is a specter that haunts the minds of many who sincerely profess belief in God. It makes prayer psychologically impossible, replacing it with dead ritual at best. And of course God does not respond to this. You wouldn't either.
Prayer changes everything.
Prayer must be:
1: On Purpose
Mark 1:35
Matthew 14:23
Luke 6:12
2: Out Loud
James 4:2-3
2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
3: With Passion
Passion is made of two things:
1: Energy
2: Consistency

Part 5 of "Exodus: A Slow March To Freedom"
Exodus 6:9
9 Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.
Exodus 7:10-13
10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts. 12 For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Still Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

Matthew 9:57-62
57 As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 59 To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 60 And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” 62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
