It is the one eventin the Gospels where Jesus went "off script," if you like. UsuallyJesus shied away from attention. When people got a bit too exuberant about Him,He would withdraw and disappear. It seems He was reluctant to draw attention toHimself. There were even occasions when, after he had performed a healing forsomeone, He instructed that person to "not tell anyone." His time hadnot come. Until this occasion we are looking at today- Palm Sunday. On thisoccasion Jesus deliberately put Himself in front of the crowd, accepting andencouraging their adulation and worship. His time had come. He presentedHimself to the people as their King. That is the significance of Palm Sunday,and it demands a response from us. The title of the sermon is Responding ToJesus. The Scripture reading is Luke 19:28-44.
