The section of Psalm 119 that we are looking at today puts together two concepts that on the surface some would find contradictory. Those two concepts are the fact that on the one hand God has and does deal well with us, according to the promises of His Word, and is good to us; and on the other hand, trials and afflictions come into our lives, that we could argue are not good, and seemingly against our understanding of His promises. As we read this section, we see that the contradiction is only superficial, and in fact when you think a bit deeper, the two go together very well.
