“Rock N Roll was an escape for me while I played football. I used it as motivation while participating in sports but more importantly it created a venue for fantasy about past and future glory both on the football field and in my life. Often I thought about the Rock God’s guitar solo acting as a soundtrack for my life. In addition to the solo I thought my admiration for the Rock God allowed me an excuse to escape. My version of a Rock God existed both in a fantasy world in my mind and as a role model for my escapism. I indulged in the Rock God lifestyle, which consisted of numerous parties where drugs and alcohol were just the foundation of the debauchery that I participated in throughout most of my football career to numb any emotion that caused anxiety surrounding my role as a football player.
