Description: This large ensemble chamber work is scored for brass. It is lovingly dedicated to Dr. Keith Benjamin, Trumpet faculty, Conservatory of Music and Dance, University of Missouri-Kansas City along with his two sons, Cameron and Duncan Benjamin. Cameron recently lost his valiant battle with leukemia; his premature absence has created a vacuum in the lives of his family and friends. The work opens in “natural minor-A” and moves through a series of key changes that evoke lots of emotion and swings in mood. The final section, Dirge, is in 6/4 time slowly moving at 20 beats per minute―with the dissonance of dark, somber chords melting into each other.
