Natalia Data
Natalia Data is an international performer, a sound recordist and a producer of music with a multifaceted professional experience within the industry. Years of collection of records, researching the technology, production and performance underpin Natalia’s numerous projects and roles.
Originally from Russia trained as a classical pianist, Natalia has received her B.S. degree from Cornell University (USA). After re-locating to England in the year 2000 proceeded to built a career in the electronic music industry performing extensively across the Americas, the Russian Federation and throughout Europe. She has DJed in many clubs, presented Ministry of Sound Radio show ‘Qaraj’ and performed live shows at multiple UK venues as well as festivals, such as Glade and Glastonbury.
Natalia released her debut vinyl on London based Juke Box In The Sky label, which received support from James Zabiela, John Aquaviva, James Holden and Dj Linus. Her consecutive releases had come out on a number of internationally acclaimed labels, including Sounds of Juan, Bonzai and Endemic Digital.
Sound for documentaries, short films and art installations - is another important outlet of Natalia’s musical abilities. The documentaries and interactive mixed media projects made in collaboration with a leading artist and producer Prof. Julian Konczak encompass radical sound design as well as traditional classical music sounds in the framework of the sound track. The projects have been presented at a number film festivals and in art galleries including FONLAD Film and Digital Art Festival (Portugal), DHRA (London), One Minute Film & Video Festival Aarau , New Forest Centre Gallery, (Lyndhurst UK), Bargate Art Gallery (Southampton), Quay Arts (Newport IOW).
Attracted by the professional activity, Digital Music course at Southampton Solent University (UK) had invited Natalia Data to teach production of electronic music, DJing and live performance, where she has been a member of teaching staff since 2007.

I had the honour of presenting Qaraj show on Ministry Of Sound Radio for over a year in 2005. It was an excellent experience of mixing vinyl (live - the was no other choice) with CDs, accappellas and jingles. On top of it all, I had to get on the mic and talk! I had to read emails and answer shout outs from all over the world. I was terrified. But I had a great comfort zone: music. I was allowed to play whatever I wanted. This is written by Bulat Okudzhava. Katya Ourakova turned up in my studio. I handed her a classical guitar and plugged in a microphone. The song is recorded in one take. I used some compression on the vocal and EQ. This is pure grass roots talent.
I compiled this selection of music for a friend, who is going through a hard time. There will be times for all of us, when there is not much we can do to help or change things, but we can still dance. Music saved me in my darkest moments. While you have your body - dance!
My dedication to the Italian Pop music. The song is written by Adriano Celentano. I made an arrangement with drums in electro house style and programmed synthesisers to follow the harmony of the song.

This composition is written by Neurodriver. One of my favourite tracks by this artist. I got inspired by it to create a vocal part - it is meat to be an announcement of gates at a cosmoport for passengers traveling on an interstellar journey.
Parts of the vocal are in Russian - they are exactly the same as the English.

This piece was played by a friend of mine in my studio live and without any rehearsal. He played Nord Piano 4. It brought tears to my eyes and I hardly remembered to press "record". Now I am glad I did, because this is beautiful. The piano notes triggered Virus TI via MIDI and the pad goes with music magnificently.
This is a live recording of myself playing Nord Piano 4 and with additional layer of a pad from Virus TI triggered by the piano notes. I used to play this piece when I was studying in a music school when I was 12. Hence it is called School Memory.

Written and produced by Natalia Data Active Arts drum circle players played the drums - it was recorded at a Free Spirit Camp in 2014. I added a couple more beats from the analogue drum machine MFB Tanzbar and a bass from Access Virus TI.

The first track is my original composition. I sampled drums played by a drum circle at Free Spirit Camp in England. The lyrics are old English folk song "Rose Rose". I added an analogue drum machine MFB Tanzbar, Virus TI and Nord Modular synths.
