Change Request | Land Of Disillusion Feat. Keter Darker
Order 12": https://www.store.subwaxbcn.com/product/scsl01/
Inspired by the iconic life and work of Chicago Acid House innovator Armando Gallop, Change Request aka Andrew Emil teams up with the venerable Keter Darker to paint a vivid tribute to the city’s deep and spiritual Blackness of its historic southside with “Land Of Disillusion”.
An homage to "Land Of Confusion", this story sees Chicago poet Keter Darker reminiscing of his childhood growing up in the Roseland neighborhood, vividly illuminating the sites and sounds and he feels on an afternoon visit back to the place that formed his most seminal and impressionable years.
A true Chicago Acid House journey, “Land Of Disillusion” is everything you expect in a project from these two Chicago House Music stalwarts—raw, gritty, and visceral—with enough mood to lose yourself in the intoxicating groove.
Southside Soliloquy By Keter Darker
here I am I still remember
Evergreen Plaza. Ford City. Riveroaks.
just to be clear
I pride myself on my roots those roots made the branches of my life
not in the way that some may posture or align with the notions of black hardship as somehow authentic blackness
while that is there for me it isn't the entirety
what really stands out more was the love
Evergreen Plaza. Ford City. Riveroaks.
the black love of my block of my neighbors the families the elders the children
the old folks that sold candy out of their homes as we walked to school
the dirt road alleys the distance sounds of trains the manufacturing the echoing ghosts
Evergreen Plaza. Ford City. Riveroaks.
I remember leaving the southside finding myself in lakeview through this miltonesque fall
the paradise of a black place was lost not never to be found again very close to leaving me
I met a man we would chat he said I was an expat
the truth and it’s weight condensed into mere words pricked me
Evergreen Plaza. Ford City. Riveroaks.
here I am I still remember
the sweet air the dandelions of summer the black children
running unafraid
alive and loved
here I am I still remember
Evergreen Plaza. Ford City. Riveroaks.
