For our 40th release we are very happy to present our next 12", featuring staple Midwest artist, Jason Patrick. Jason originally hails from Detroit but has called Chicago home for many years. His 'Back Channel Communications' EP exemplifies his highly refined production technique developed from years of experience as a DJ, producer, and label owner. Amalgamation opens the record heavy, brooding, and sinister; continuing with Conspire, an rhythmic exercise in drive punctuated by sparse syncopated claps. Flip the record, JX-216 delivers hefty angular grit in his remix; and closing out the EP, Jason takes us into space with Enveloped, featuring expansive atmospheric themes.Full length previews and pre-orders coming soon!

We are proud to present 13 years of From 0-1. The Techno music scene has changed immensely in the last 13 years, but our mission remains the same... release high quality dancefloor tracks, designed to move the body and stimulate the mind, while choosing to work with the most genuine artists we encounter. This compilation celebrates 13 quality artists we respect and admire around the world. We see the effect of Techno music as a global phenomenon. It shatters borders, and eliminates barriers between us, ultimately bringing us closer to each other. Without it, we may never have made connections and struck friendships with the artists represented in this release. Beyond all the Instagram superstardom, pay-to-play relationships, flashy nonsense, and ghost produced who-gives-a-shit tracks, there is still a solid and vibrant core of artists worldwide working day in and day out to keep it real. A small cross section of those artists are represented right here. With the end of the pandemic in sight, we know you are all eager to get back into the club. We wish you a quick and rapid rebound from all of this as soon as possible, and hope these tracks make your bass bins bang. Thank you so much for your support these last 13 years. See you on the dancefloor.

Truth is stranger than fiction they say, 2020 has proven it. This is not the year we asked for, but it's the year we received. Remarkably, even as clubs and social events across the world shuttered, the spirit of Techno remained alive in living rooms, bedrooms, and basements planet-wide. We hope you still draw inspiration, and excitement in the culture we've collectively nurtured for so many years. Before long we will see each other again, hug and kiss one another, and reconnect under more auspicious stars. For now, we wait. Luckily, we have new music for you to pass the time. We present our latest vinyl 12-inch record release: 'Life Under Lockdown', featuring tracks by Kessell (1/2 of the legendary Spanish duo, Exium), Joton (founder of Newrhythmic Rec.), HD Substance (co-founder of Sub_tl, and teacher at the Bass Valley), and JX-216 (co-founder of From 0-1). Modern, syncopated Techno for the new world.
Vinyl will be available from our Bandcamp (http://www.from0-1.com) and at reputable dealers around the world.

For our 34th From 0-1 release we welcome seasoned Techno producer, Vegim of Kosovo. His Transform EP is a three track masterpiece of professionally minted tracks, epitomizing the modern Techno sound of 2020. 'Transform' opens the EP with filtered down funky synths pushing the track along, 'Blender 'continues the energy with deep syncopated rhythmic synth work, and 'Peekaboo' pushes full throttle to properly close out the EP. Enjoy.

For our 33rd release, we welcome back Warsaw based artist, Szmer. Szmer blew our minds with his remix contribution to our last EP by Quest so we were eager to sign an EP with him. His Forward Motion EP features three original tracks and one remix by Italian (Berlin based) artist WHT MOTH. Starting off the EP is it's name sake- Forward Motion, a massive peak time track useful for blowing up a dancefloor. Second up is WHT MOTH's syncopated reinterpretation of Zero Gravity, heady yet dense and powerful. Invader, aptly named, sounds like a flyer saucer with a menacing purpose; and Zero Gravity closes out the EP keeping it mental and alien. . . Design by: Rubidium Mastering by: Dietrich Shoenemann

We welcome Vancouver artist, Quest to From 0-1 for his debut EP with us- Rituals, our 32nd in the catalog. His two originals are an exercise in futuristic atmospherics; advanced and forward thinking. Szmer of Warsaw, Poland is with us on remix duties, delivering a massive, aggressive warehouse track. Prophän of Casablanca, Morocco finishes of the EP with a low slung broken beat mix reminiscent of the Prologue era of Techno.

Brooklyn native John Massey has been attempting to damage eardrums for almost 20 years. A child of the 80s, John transplanted to Los Angeles as a teen. There he discovered an emerging underground dance scene and was infected with an interest in electronic music. John soon founded Sound Rehab Productions, connected with influential local promoters and artists such as Omar Ojeda (Darius Aleksander), Robin Porter, Drumcell, Ron-D-Core, Raiz (Acid Circus) and began coordinating techno events and working the DJ circuit throughout the southern California area. Today John resides in Seattle. John is the kind of unassuming artists that earns respect rather than demands it, keeping his head down and focusing on his craft, trusting his instincts to keep the dance floor moving. His current set consists of a live/dj hybrid that enables John to creatively blend a wide variety of techno, house, minimal and experimental sounds. As a producer John tackles a variety of sounds ranging from his previous hip hop efforts under Dysposable Heroes, to his recent techno projects under his own name and previously as Indispensable Villains. Heʼs affiliated with Seattleʼs From 0-1, a conceptual label which he represents in his various endeavors. Heʼs released on various labels such as HardSignal, Subspec, From 0-1, Subsensory and his own Sound Rehab Recordings. No matter the genre he has always enjoyed working with various artists giving him the opportunity to make new friends and take in new influences. With several new projects on horizon 2018 looks to be a productive year for John so keep look out...

Sone is Seattle, Washington based DJ and producer Brian Sonnleitner. His first exploits into live music was being immersed in the underground punk scene in Wisconsin during the mid/late 90's. Fast forward to now, while keeping the same energy and ethos of his early experiences, Brian is a DJ of well over a decade with his sets trending towards the driving and tracky side of techno.
2008 brought Sone into the realm of production with his music exploring a stripped down but heavy sound. His original productions and remixes have received support from Ben Sims, Reggy van Oers, Joachim Spieth, Juho Kusti, TWR72, Soolee, and many others. His tracks appear on his home label, From 0-1, which he runs with long time friend Milkplant; while surfacing on other labels such as Android Muziq, Webuildmachines, Rheostatus, and Darknet.

Seattle artist, and From 0-1 co-owner Sone, issues his debut vinyl EP, ‘Auroras’. Aptly titled, this EP embodies the characteristic ethereal nature of these light formations seen in the far northern and southern hemispheres. Deep heady atmospheres, and constant driving rhythmic motion perfectly embody the artist’s vision. ‘Australis’ opens the EP with hypnotic rhythms and enigmatic textures. Milkplant continues the theme while ratcheting up the energy level, and injecting a touch of grit. ‘Borealis’ brings the funk with undeniable groove and tracky percussive power; serving as a great DJ tool. UK artist Operator (aka Rich Jones) turns the focus with heavy driving force, and an organic, acidic chug.

Anyone who approaches Techno music with intelligence and finesse is exactly in the right place with C.7even, because the young Frankfurt- native has her craft down to a tee. She found her way into electronic music back in 2009, shaped by many musical genres.
Contrary to many others, her style is constantly evolving and driven by the passion to constantly reinvent herself.Groovy-melodic, mystic- hypnotic, straightforward-uncompromising- this is what she embodies, but she still has always a clear vision her mind of the story that she wants to tell through the medium of electronic sounds.
“A DJ set has to make sense to me, Im no fan of the approach to just step behind the decks and blindly improvise my way through my playtime- Im always aware of what it is that I want to convey to my audience. That moment, when you ignite that spark in your audience- when the dancefloor really lets loose and people follow your leadership- that feeling just cannot be bought, that’s why I personally prefer longer sets (4-5 hours or more) over short and compressed playtimes. You can unfold and spread your wings so much more, and the connection between you and your audience gets so much deeper and more intense.“
In terms of own productions, C.7even doesn’t have anything official under her belt yet- but she doesn’t have to, because good stuff takes his time and her sets more than speak for themselves.“im really not a patient person, that’s why I might need more time than others to complete projects. But I refuse to give in to outside pressure- nowadays everybody says “you have to produce, you have to promote events, you have to do this and you have to do that in order to progress...
„I rather focus on the things that I am good at and what I can represent and stand by to 100%,I wont tolerate a flood of releases and half-assed stuff. That’s why my general rule is: “less is more.”
Anyone who likes to go on a sonic journey through many facets of
House & Techno, who likes to let loose in a tightly woven atmosphere and anyone who prefers sophisticated music over anything mainstream- take the leap of faith and and immerse yourself into the world of C. 7even.
In this spirit, ||Stay Underground||
d_func. is the dark side of the Berlin based Techno producer Alexander Kowalski. He is a German techno producer who elegantly fuses elements from classic Detroit and historical Berlin techno. His affection for sophisticated bass lines, deep beats and challenging arrangements breathes new life into techno. He knows perfectly how to program his tracks to sound straight, deep, housy, dubby or funky - and this versatility is one of the reasons for his reputation with both ravers and underground-oriented techno nerds.
Alexander Kowalski has come a long way. A techno producer and live performer since 1997, he has racked up an impressive volume of work including four solo albums, countless singles and remixes. It all began in the early 90's in Berlin as Kowalski caught wind of the first techno releases that found their way over from Detroit and New York. Soon he was producing his own material and making his debut live appearances at Berlin's premier techno club Tresor. It was here that he got in touch with Pacou, resulting in his first releases on the Tresor label under the pseudonym DisX3. Around that time, he also teamed up with Stassy of Sender Berlin in a collaboration called Double X.
Not long after, his first full-length release "Echoes" appeared on Kanzleramt (2001). But his big breakthrough came with the release of his follow-up album "Progress" in 2002. In the same year he also scored a hit with "Hot Spot" featuring Raz Ohara. Evolving and honing his production skills with every release, Kowalski was soon getting enormous acclaim for his innovative sound, which combined technical prowess and precision with a strong sense of emotion. After his third album "Response" in 2003, he shifted his focus to performing live across the globe and providing remixes for such artists as Agoria, Dave Gahan, Funk D'Void, Sascha Funke and Paul Kalkbrenner.
Kowalski's action-packed live sets are always powerfully intense. Having played in cities all over the world, he is a pro performer behind his gear who knows how to rock out the dancefloor with bass-driven techno, deep harmonies and straight beats, pulling out all the stops with his club anthem "Speaker Attack". His live skills as well as his exceptional discography have earned him a place as a favourite among critics who, over the years, have awarded him the titles of best producer, best live act and two-time nominee for the German dance award.

Obstruct is one of many pseudonyms spearheaded by long time producer/performer Rob Romine. His compounding influences date back to the early 90’s and continue to surface through many different outlets. Since 2013, Rob has dedicated his focus on his own Rheostatus label, building a discography that has rooted himself in the world of techno.
Since the label’s debut, Rob has launched a bi-monthly label night Current, featuring guests such as Truncate, Axkan, Garrett Dillon, Komprezzor, Sone, and Uun. This night takes place at the premier sound installation of the Meta Hi-Fi system at Niche located in downtown Kansas City. The night features live PA performances from top artists as well as upcoming artists throughout the midwest.
As a member of the established Kansas City Techno collective, no compromises have been made to make techno a staple sound in the Midwest. The crew is a diverse group of artists focused on producing, performing, and promoting Techno.
Rob's influential sound continues to challenge the status quo in a genre flooded with copy cats and repeaters. His unique flavor has a sophisticated energy with thought provoking melodies and rhythms that coexist in an environment surrounded by bass and distortion.

Bio:
Pinion (Bobby Dowell)- Chicago, USA Perc Trax/Droid/Soma
Bobby Dowell has a sound that’s both hard and human. With releases on Droid, Soma, Perc Trax and elsewhere he’s developed an approach that keeps things moody and moving at the same time. He delivers a sound that can be devoid of form, while embracing the traditional canvas of 4/4. The sound is dark and decadent, while creating a living, breathing human element that one could only describe as a soul. As of late he has been focusing on his persona as Pinion. Being a more experimental and industrial project, Pinion is the sound of a man with his own vision of music, sitting somewhere between classic industrial and contemporary techno without being completely dedicated to either discipline. Where the likes of classic industrial methods are the sound of metal on metal, Pinion is more like wood on leather, a ceremonial throb that switches in an instant from tightly locked grooves to more freeform rhythmic patterns. Equally at home serving up percussive workouts as he is crafting dense, atmospheric soundscapes the sound of Pinion is nothing short of unyielding.

From 0-1 presents: "Actual Materials From Strange Planets", a four track EP by Italian producer, Lorentz. Based in Rome, his exploits beyond production and vinyl DJing include singularly running his own worldwide vinyl only imprint, Little Hill; known for it's deep, dub influenced Techno. This EP includes four tracky Techno cuts superbly designed for the DJ. 'Ogle-TR56b' focuses on a tough and moody timbre, 'Numbers and Figures' lightens the mood slightly in favor of quicker pacing and energy, 'Geometry' carries over a considerably similar vibe, and 'Lights and Shadows' takes control of the daybreak vibe remaining energetic, yet trippy and syncopated.
