Club Chai co-founder 8ULENTINA debuts on London-based label TT with BODYGUARD, an EP about safety, protection and trust. Drawing on the Club Chai party’s mission to blend non-western dance music with club, techno, rap and R&B, the Oakland-based artist and activist offers five atmospheric rhythm experiments on this unique EP, including ‘Doesn’t Always Work’. With its brittle drums and cinematic use of samples, the track nods to 8ULENTINA’s Turkish heritage while crafting moody grooves that never sit still – a hybrid that perfectly captures the Club Chai spirit. The EP – which also features a collaboration with Top Flight favourite DJ Plead – is out on March 15.
