The AppsScriptPulse website (https://pulse.appsscript.info) was launched in 2019, providing a curated collection of the latest Google Apps Script contributions from both Google, but focusing on community contributions. The site now has over 600 solutions, snippets, tutorials and resources updated almost daily. In this episode of Totally Unscripted we are joined by Romain Vialard, Phil Bainbridge and Scott ‘Yagi’ Donald who have individually provided the top 3 Pulse contributions for 2021. We will discuss the solutions they have created which range from offline Apps Script development with VS Code/clasp to document automation to creating games in Google Slides.
In this episode of Totally Unscripted, we will catch up with Eric Koleda who has been a well known fixture to Google Workspace Developers for the better part of a decade. Now that his legendary career as a Google Workspace Developer Relations Engineer has come to a close, we will reminisce with Eric about the impact of Apps Script and how Workspace development has evolved. DocuSign provides a suite of services to support the entire contract lifecycle from eSignature to automation to analysis. Whilst DocuSign has its own full range of services and integrations DocuSign developers and partners build the customized and integrated experiences that account for roughly 60% of all of DocuSign’s transactions. Document AI uses machine learning on a scalable cloud-based platform to help your organization efficiently scan, analyze, and understand documents. Manually inputting invoices, receipts, and expenses can be time-consuming, but it doesn’t have to be. The Procurement Document AI is a tool that allows you to digitize unstructured content into structured data. This is just one of the many scenarios where Document AI can be used to develop smart workflows. In this episode we are joined by Jay Lee, creator of Google Apps Manager (GAM). GAM is an open source command line tool for Linux, MacOS and Windows which allows administrators to easily manage domain and user settings in Google Workspace. GAM is particularly useful for running bulk operations running commands in parallel from a text or .csv file. Last month Google announced the general availability of Alternate Runtimes for Google Workspace Add-ons. With alternative runtimes, developers can write Add-ons in any language and on any infrastructure, and then publish them to the Google Workspace Marketplace. We all love the flexibility HTMLService gives us when developing Google Workspace Editor Add-ons, but what happens when you need to scale your production? Web application frameworks provide a way to deploy and develop your code in a structured way making it easier to maintain your code base. Angular is one open-source web application framework that can be used to modernize your Workspace Editor Add-on development. In this episode we are joined by Spencer Easton who shares how Amplified IT have adopted Angular for their Add-on development. As part of this we explore the benefits using Angular including a component-based architecture, internationalization and performance.
In this episode of Totally Unscripted we look at no-code solutions for Google Workspace automation. We are joined by no-code and automation experts Vahid Taslimi and Aravin Srinivasan from zenphi. Zenphi is a no-code business process automation platform, designed from the ground up for Google Workspace. With Vahid and Aravin we see how zenphi can be used to automate processes from basic mail merge to more complicated approval workflows, all utilizing zenphi’s no-code drag and drop flow generator. We also learn how they have approached the challenge to support users in taking more ownership of their business processes and considerations for other Workspace developers.
