Human waste in the backcountry is a growing problem, especially at the East Fork Trailhead outside of Crested Butte. It accesses West Maroon Pass, a popular hike to Aspen.

Sally Johnson of Crested Butte was fed up, did some research, and proposed a solution to the Forest Service. She discovered Toilet Tech, who specializes in backcountry waste solutions.
