Week 7: Day 2
ONE ENCOUNTER - Defining Moments
Do you know because of one person, some decide to follow a path? Because of one experience, they avoid one.
For me, I invested 4 years of my life in a course because of one teacher - Mr Dauda, my secondary school Economics Teacher.
The fan of my occupation is one of belief because of my encounter with my fine art teacher, Mrs Awoyemi.
I lost my childhood times because I encountered a man, who in just a day turned my life around.
I gained it all and more because I encountered a neighbor, Victoria who revealed Christ through her early morning songs.
You have had your share of stories too and you either smile or ache at the memories.
The question today however is this; what have you left with those that have encountered you?
Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
How has an encounter with you help define another? Towards light or deeper into darkness? Have you walked with the knowledge of your impact on your world? Have you done that with the mindset of the kingdom?
Every day you have a contact with another, you leave them with a story; in silence or in speech, in actions or in its lack.
As salt, you are called to be a reason for taste. As light, you are called to be a reason for illumination.
Just as you may not remember the individuals that won great awards in the world, but you can remember those that have had direct impact on you, like your best teacher, that person that brightens up your day no matter what, that individual that pushes you to dream bigger and greater, the one that led you to Christ...
The aim is not to wait for the platform to shine but to shine just where you are because that is your hill top.
I pray that as you go about your day, you are the reason people are reminded of God's Glory and drawn to Him in thanksgiving in Jesus name, Amen.
