Claudia is a Ph.D. student at Michigan Technological University in the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences. Originally from Germany, Claudia is currently studying Forestry Science, doing research, and is the Social Chair of the club Women in Natural Resources, a club that supports women in natural resource professions here at MTU. Claudia talks about her experience as a woman, and we compare and contrast policies and social "norms" in Germany vs the United States. We delve into topics on pay gaps, maternity leave, and being LGBT in these types of professions. Get Caught in the Krausefire and learn about being a woman in the world of natural resources! 

This podcast is edited from a radio show that I hosted at MTU on their local station and has some edits that sound a little odd. Please bear with me as this was one of my first experiences doing a radio show and my first experience editing audio! 

We also talk about maternity leave in this episode but I did not have time to look up laws in the US beforehand. Maternity leave for women in the US is 12 weeks unpaid.
