A computer virus is systematically encrypting all of the world's information, rendering it unusable. Although government information is safely protected, panic starts to rip the public apart. A mysterious group contacts General Harris and analyst Sarah Wilkins of the Counter-Terror Unit, claiming responsibility, and demanding to speak to a tetchy but brilliant British IT Consultant, Eve Green.
