In this episode:
I will explore how Southern Americans were able to continue to enslave Blacks long after the 13th amendment by passing vagrancy laws, creating sharecropping, and leveraging convict leasing.
I will then examine how radical republicans would attempt to rebuild the south with reconstruction and fail.
Lastly I will discuss how all of these events would lead to Jim Crow Laws in the South and lay the foundation for the racial wealth gap we experience today.
