GENERATION GAB! It's the show where a millennial (Chase O'Donnell) and a gen X (John Lehr) talk about the differences of their generations. If for no other reason than to make each other laugh.
Thanks for joining us during another week quarantined at home. Big apologies for Chase's sound. It'll be all fixed by next week. Chase reads John popular meme's circulating throughout the internet that are all quarantined themed. John introduces Chase to Kathy... you know? The cartoon from the funny pages in the newspaper? He thinks she has the same humor as the kids writing meme's today. John also doesn't think Millennials should be getting a bad rap for being lazy. He think's Gen X'ers are the true slackers and he's proud of it.

This is an interesting time folks. And interesting times call for interesting episodes. Since everyone is practicing social distancing, John and Chase record from two separate locations. And since kids are staying home from school, John's son, Hudson, makes a guest appearance. This episode is mainly focused on this crazy time and how it's affecting each generation differently. John believes Gen X is hit the hardest because they can't work, AND they have to keep their kids entertained at home AND support a family. Hudson's reaction to not having to go to school is gold. Chase doesn't seem to be doing so well being isolated from the world and John is concerned. But everyone's getting along just fine, especially those in retirement communities according to Chase's Grandma. Hopefully this episode makes you feel less alone during this time. Thank you for tuning in.

It's Chase's Birthday! John and Chase discuss more about the Corona Virus. They really know their stuff about it. Then they compare the apps each of them have on their phone. John's into apps like Kindle where as Chase has lots of photo apps. Discussion on the 'Secret' and vision boards creeps in and John leads a meditation. Finally, Chase and John call a Patreon supporter, Heather. She gives her two cents on the apps she has on her phone, as well, and then John kindly ends the episode with another amazing meditation. Thank you for listening!

This week, John kicks off the episode by teaching Chase about the drugs she should try. He doesn't think she's done enough and as someone in her 20's this is the time to experiment. (He's such a good influence, huh?) Next, Chase brings up the corona virus. Yikes. John realizes how serious it is, but feels like it has nothing on his generation dealing with AIDS. Finally, we take a call from Tom Dillon who supports our podcast via Patreon. We discuss how much prices have changed from generation to generation. This week on generation Gab Chase and John discuss the different ways their generations deal with stress. A lot of millennials scroll on instagram according to a study done by Chase. John gets a hands on course on how to repost on Instagram and gets tips from facebook live viewers on how to switch his facebook following over to instagram where it’s all happening. They touch on the dating world just a little bit and decide a lot of people are reconnecting with high school sweet hearts 30 some years later thanks to social media. Finally, Chase shares with John about the hip toys from her generation, including Tamagotchi’s, Furby’s and NeoPets.

This week Chase teaches John the meaning of the phrase YOLO. They discuss certain names and which generation each one belongs to. John pulls up a fabulous Buzz Feed article that makes fun of older generation's using the wrong emoji. John finds it offensive, Chase finds it hysterical. Finally, they end on a game of "You Know You're a Certain Generation When... (Fill in the blank)". Hope you enjoy!

This week, John and Chase start off the episode by gabbing about the cartoons they grew up with on Saturday mornings. Things take a more serious turn, for just a brief moment, when they discuss Kobe Bryant. Keeping on the theme of current events, they share their thoughts on the Super Bowl. Chase loved J. Lo's performance whereas John loved Shakira. As far as football goes, John couldn't be more confused how to feel now that his team has won for the first time in his entire life time. Finally, it's been a while, so they discuss Chase's dating life and she is frustrated by it all. John gives fabulous advice. Thanks for tuning in!

This weeks episode is a fun one. John has a cold (again) but Chase saves the day and gives him cold medicine. It get's better, don't worry. Chase plays a game with John having him guess which generation would say a certain phrase. John talks about the time his 'Ten Items or Less' prank video went viral. Finally they end on a game called... "Try your best not to reveal your age, but at the same time tell a younger person about something they wouldn't understand." Still working on the title of that game. It seems a bit long. Hope you enjoy the episode! Share and leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

This week we have the incredible Jennifer Schlosberg with us. She’s an author, mother, feminist, event planner and also just happens to be John’s wife. This was one of our favorite interviews to date. Jennifer has lots to say on the role women have played throughout history and how this new generation just might be able to change things up. Like, perhaps instead of a man proposing to a woman, the roles could reverse. On the topic of proposing, we learn how John and Jennifer met and ended up tying the knot. John was an hour late to their first date… Come on John… but can we blame him? Waze hadn’t been invented yet. Neither had paperless post or this new app that tracks your poop. Yup. That app is mentioned a few times in this episode. Hope you enjoy! Please review and share if you feel so inclined!

This week, John and Chase gab about how weird it is when you get to the stage in your life when people start dying. Yikes! I thought this was a light hearted comedy podcast... it is. Next, John teaches Chase about the difference between the actors Kirstie alley and Jane Curtin. He then reads an article written by a man named Dorsey about the two different categories of millennials. It's interesting, but they're not so sure they can trust a man named Dorsey. The episode ends by reviewing some movies John and Chase have recently watched. Hope you enjoy. As usual, comment and subscribe if you liked the episode!

Chase is getting over a cold since she's been spreading herself too thin. John reassures her that it doesn't get easier. Life is downhill from here. Lovely! John shares with the listeners 'The Mindset List' which reveals facts of each graduating class and it's rather interesting. For example, the class of 2022 has never had to lick a stamp... Chase and John have a heated conversation about whether or not having a face to face conversation is out dated, and finally, they take a rather offensive quiz called "Are you a Boomer?". As usual, thank you for listening! Please subscribe and share! it helps out our podcast immensely.

In this episode, John and Chase gab about things that are no longer in... Water beds, reading the ACTUAL newspaper, and licking your finger before picking up a piece of paper. Chase shares tweets about the 'boomer culture' and they are spot on. If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe. It helps us out a ton. This week the Gen X accidentally didn’t turn our mics on (classic) so we re-recorded the episode from the top. Thank goodness, because it’s a good one. John talks about his bad review he got in TV guide in the 90’s. TV guide… remember that? Chase shares her claim to fame in one episode of Judging Amy. (If you’re curious Season 2 Episode 7) John believes the original Hairspray from the 80’s is better, and Chase is adamant that the remake is. John finds a class on ‘Adulting’ that he thinks Chase could really use and Finally, they discuss an article titled “Why Gen X is our Last Hope” (or something like that) It’s interesting. Gen X just might be the greatest generation. Key word MIGHT. Thanks for listening. Please review and share if you enjoyed this episode.

This week John and Chase interview Chase's Mom, Kaysie Kent! That's right. She's a loyal listener to the podcast and came on to defend the baby-boomer generation, because frankly, she thinks we've been too hard on them. She fills us in on all the great things baby boomers have done for our country, like create the internet and other cool things like that. John comes to the conclusion that we should send all the boomers to Mars, so not quite sure if Kaysie got through to him... you'll have to be the judge. Apologies for the sound during this episode. There is a fire alarm test happening in the background which is always a perfect situation to record a podcast in, but we get through it! Thanks for listening!

You asked for it, and we got him. This week we have the very talented and hilarious Bob Clendenin as a guest. He lies right on the cusp of Gen X and Baby Boomer, but technically is a boomer. Obviously we discuss the ever so popular 'Ok Boomer' phrase but quickly transition into John and Bob's time on the hit show 'Ten Items Or Less' together. Here's a clip of them dancing on set... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dRwpA00TPg
We gab about our best and worst 9-5 jobs and even do some improvisation. Yup. You heard correct. It's a fun ep. As usual, please comment and subscribe! We love hearing from you!

This episode kicks off with a discussion on how selfies are the new autographs. Then, John and Chase play another round of "Where Do You Know That Celebrity From?" and it brings up quite a few tangents. For one, John and Chase learn they BOTH went as Queen Amidala for Halloween the same exact year. Chase doesn't know who Rush is? But John doesn't know who Ben Higgens from the Bachelor is, so they're even. When asked who John would save in a Sophie's choice situation, he didn't bat an eye. And yes, we gabbed about the depressing movie, Sophie's Choice because every great comedy podcast discusses Sophie's Choice... Right?

This week we interview John's 13 year old daughter! She's a Gen Z and the coolest girl around. John starts the episode by doing what all father's do best, embarrassing their kid. We gab about what lunch items we had growing up, what music we listen(ed) to and end on a game called "Guess That Song". Oh yea, Jules also informs us on the phrase Ok Boomer. Hope you enjoy.

This week John has a cold, but that doesn't stop him from gabbing away. The episode begins with a discussion on firing people vs. being ghosted. Next, they gab about how great of a guest Justine Bateman was, and, finally, end on a game a listener sent in: "Where do you know that celebrity from?" Basically, John and Chase know the same actors, but from entirely different phases of their careers. It's very educational. Send us more games to play at www.generationgabpodcast.com

This week we have the incredible Justine Bateman with us. It was a fascinating talk. We gab about her time on Family Ties, the rise and descent of fame, how it differs being a celebrity now as opposed to before the internet and what it means to be successful today... which is very different from the classic white picket fence and 2.5 kids that used to be the standard. We discuss Justine's recent projects which we are so excited to watch/read. Her books FAME and FACE are both on Amazon. Keep an eye out for her film Violet and definitely do some snooping on the internet to find Justine and John star in the films Highball and Cracks from the 90's. Thanks for listening! This week on Generation Gab Chase and John gab about all of the weddings Chase is invited to. Then John reads some quotes from an article about Gen X'rs becoming irrelevant. Do you agree? It's up for debate. Chase talks about her time in a girl group and finally a round of DEAL BREAKER! OUR FAVORITE GAME. Enjoy! Please share and subscribe if you like the episode!

This week we interview our first millennial guest, the incredible, the amazing, Alexia Dox! She's a very funny, talented actress/writer/comedian who you may know from her role as Pearl on Quick Draw with John! The first part of the episode is spent going over how the three of us know each other. Once that's covered, we move onto some fun topics. The millennials teach John about Facebook, Myspace, and Beanie Babies and John makes sure to inform the millennials on beepers (version 1), balding, and what letters on phones were used for BEFORE texting. I mean... you don't want to miss this one. We love Alexia!

This week we have our first celebrity guest, David DeLuise! He bridges many generations because not only has he been in endless popular TV shows and Movies, his father is the incredible Dom Deluise. And if you're a millennial, do not fear, you know David as Selena Gomez's dad on Wizard's of Waverly Place. I mean, every generation knows this man. We begin the episode by educating Chase on who Dom Deluise is and then jump into David's time on Wizards of Waverly Place. John's wife, Jennifer, pops in a few times to share some extraordinary wisdom. You don't want to miss it. We end the episode on a game called WWGD (What Would Gen X Do?) where Chase quizzes John and David on what they would do in life situations as opposed to what millennial would do. Overall, it's a fun time. You should take a listen. Comment, share and give us a review if you feel so inclined!

This episode starts off by reminiscing about the Antelope Valley Comedy Festival that John produced last weekend. Chase's ten year high school reunion is coming up and John just attended his 30th high school reunion. Boy does time fly. They vent about the woes of not remembering the names of old friends. Speaking of 'friends', they gab about John's appearance on the hit show Friends... What? So cool! Lastly, they end on a listener's email submission about movies from the 80's. Send us your questions/comments/segment ideas at generationgabpodcast.com. And as usual, give us a like or comment below if you're liking the podcast. Thanks for listening!
This week, we interview John's long time friend Barry Neal. He is a professional stand up comedian and in John's words 'clearly a Gen X'. We are recording live in front of a studio audience at the Antelope Valley Comedy Festival (aka the Coachella of comedy). Did the audience just HAPPEN to be in the room while we were recording? Maybe... but still, they were there. We cover topics including how to handle bombing as a stand up, that time John and Barry did comedy in Edinburgh, and finally end on giving love advice to a listener who wrote in. You can be next! Write in to our podcast at www.generationgabpodcast.com .
One of our audience members, Darcie, has an awesome podcasting network called Curated Stacks. Check it out.
This is a very special episode, because this week Chase and John interview John’s 11 year old son, Hudson. He is part of the upcoming generation they’re calling Generation Z. (The generation that is going to save us all...) He enlightens the millennial and Gen X on all things youtube and is way cooler than both of them combined. The cool bar is not that high, but still. Hope you enjoy!
This week we gab about Hollywood and what it's like going into meetings with people younger than ourselves. But that's not all, we discuss what we think the purpose of life is (I know... deep), and dive into statistics regarding millennials and their living situations. There are several interruptions along the way from a dog, a mailman, and a couple of Gen Z's, but all part of the fun, right? Enjoy! Please subscribe and leave a nice review if so inclined. It'll help the show out!
We talk for a while in this one, buckle up. We start with John telling the story of the time Bianca Jagger lived with him. #saywhat? Chase shares the struggle of being raised a vegetarian in the 90’s when it wasn’t a thing. Then Chase and John give their opinions on current pop culture headlines. We end on a fun round of Deal Breaker. Enjoy!
We might change the name of this podcast to “how to solve problems during the taping of a podcast”. Everything that could go wrong during this recording did. One problem being the sound wasn’t plugged in. (Sorry about the quality for the first 10 minutes). We call Chase’s grandma and have many difficulties actually getting her on the phone, but once we did, it couldn’t have been more interesting. John self proclaimed this episode "the best podcast we’ve done and if there’s a podcast award show this is the one we’re submitting”. Wow. Now that’s a bold statement. Hope you agree.
Chase and John discuss why millennials have been labeled the worst. Then, they go into a rapid fire game of "Guess That Generational Reference” (Still working on a title for this segment.) Chase shares her worst stand up bomb story that just happened in Atlanta. (It’s painful) And finally, John shares his experience being a recurring role on a primetime NBC show in the 90’s. Pretty fun stuff guys. Hope you enjoy!
This week, Chase is on a road trip with her sister London (@madebylondon) So John gives Chase a call in Nashville. Chase and John chat about her road trip and bring London into the conversation. She gives her advice on how the podcast is going so far. (All pretty positive stuff) She likes our podcast. Phew. Topics covered in this episode include, coffee enema’s, the whole 30, snapchat filters, and getting crazy in Atlanta.

In this episode, Chase fills John in on the Engagement party she went to. John reminds Chase to live it up while she’s young because soon she will become invisible... and he reminds her that the death train is coming. Too dark? Things lighten up a bit once they gab about the differences of their generations. John’s generation put personal ads in the newspaper for dating, didn’t have google, and actually needed spelling tests in school, because no auto correct... Chase’s generation, on the other hand... well, you know what it’s like now. Hope you enjoy!
If you'd like to submit questions and conversation topics send them our way at www.generationgabpodcast.com or leave a comment!
In this episode John and Chase gab about the pop culture that defines each of their generations. They vent about how hard it is to take care of kids, (but also how worth it it is…) That time John was on a show called News Weasels and Chase was in a movie called Psycho Stripper and more fun stuff like that. Trust me, you’re going to want to give this one a listen.
Last episode John challenged Chase to go on a date. Chase spills the beans on how it went and then they open up Bumble to do some swiping. Later the Gen X and Millennial do a new segment called 'classic movies' where they discuss their favorites of all time. Hope you enjoy! Let us know if you do!
Chase and John attempt to have segments during this episode so it's more structured. After a ten minute detour, learning about Chase's Disney Channel obsessed past, we dive into the first segment of "Guess That Millennial Phrase", then "Chase's Love Corner" and finally a couple rounds of "Deal Breaker". Thanks for tuning in!
This week we are recording from Chase’s place and John drinks out of a Britney Spears mug. Chase learns about the wondrous invention of liquid paper and John learns about dating as a millennial. Ultimately, the fun dad and (semi) recent grad compare their weekends, which, you guessed it, are vastly different.
If you enjoy this episode, leave us a review and share with your friends!
Chase and John gab about the differences and Similarities of their generations. Chase teaches John about Instagram, texting and a game she made up called 'Deal Breaker'. John teaches Chase about the struggles of getting older, dealing with death, and what is was like to use a real map.
