Tune in this week to hear the stories of Chien-Shiung Wu and Grace Hopper. These women have taken part in forging a way for women in the STEM field and allowing women today to do what we love. Chien-Shiung Wu was a Chinese American particle and experimental physicist and she made significant contributions in the fields of nuclear and particle physics. Grace Brewster Murray Hopper was an American computer scientist and United States Navy rear admiral who made contributions to programming Mark I, II, and III. She also developed along with her team the first computer language "compiler" and coined the phrase "debugging" as she was taking apart Mark 2 with her team and found a moth, hence "debugging" the computer. Tune into this two-part series to hear their remarkable stories and how they forged a path for women in the STEM field. Without women like Chien-Shiung Wu and Grace Hopper fighting for their place and indirectly the place of all women in the STEM field we could have been stuck in a society where women weren’t allowed to contribute. Although we have a long way to go for the fight of equality, it’s important to keep in mind when we all fight together our voices are heard and this is where we see change.
