Hello and welcome to Social Media Traffic School with Sally Hendrick.
That’s me! I’m Sally from Nashville, Tennessee, and this is today’s update.
Today we’re talking about UTM codes. UTM codes are the extra jibberish that you see at the end of a link that idenitfy where your traffic is coming from. You want to use these in your social media, so that you know exact what people clicked on in order to reach your website.
For example, if you’d like to know how many people go to your website to opt-in for one of your free resources from your Instagram profile, then add UTM codes to the end of your link in your profile with keywords that indicate your Instagram profile.
If that same link is shared on LinkedIn in a post for people to come get your free resource, then use a different UTM code at the end of the same link that indicates it came from LinkedIn.
Doing this consistently on links to your website will help you understand what social media real estate is working for you. Then you’ll be able to understand where you should spend more time and effort, and maybe you’ll ditch something that’s not working, or come up with an alternative plan to test.
If you’d like to know more about how to monetize your business with social media, head over to socialmediatrafficschool.com to get our courses for just $1.
See you next time!
