GUISE is the heart and soul of pop-folk singer-songwriter Jess Guise, who has been writing and playing songs live since her teens. Possessed of a remarkable folk lilt and with influences coming from Dar Williams, Anais Mitchell and Stevie Nicks, she sings with delicacy whilst imparting vicious asides - by turns sweet and haunting. Jess heads up the four-piece band that form GUISE, together with bassist Titas Halder, co-vocalist Laura Hanna, and drummer Keith Barry. Close vocal harmonies are almost spectral, whilst Titas’s bass emboldens Jess’s songs with a warm tone, and Keith’s jazz influenced underpinning gives GUISE’s songs a swing not often found in folk.
