I am the Choir director for Dungiven Parish Church Choir. We are an amateur voluntary choir who come together to sing for all the church services weekly in our local parish.
I started leading the Choir in 1998 and although originally the choir sang in unison we have over the years developed into a four part ensemble. Members have come and gone throughout the 19 years but the choir photographed here have been with me now for over four years and some of them for over 18 years.
In order to celebrate the wonderful standard of choral singing the choir has achieved and to celebrate my own 30 years of voluntary service leading church choirs I decided last year to produce a C.D. of some of our most popular hymns and carols. The making of the C.D. was a fantastic experience for us all and apart from selling brilliantly locally, it has also been downloaded from iTunes, Amazon and Spotify in over 23 countries throughout the world and continues to do so. It also continues to receive airplay on two local radio stations - BBC Radio Foyle and Downtown Radio.
The track which I have included here from our C.D. is our version of ‘O Holy Night’. It was written by Adolphe Adam and J. B. Dwight and arranged by Marie Lacey.
We really hope you enjoy listening to it, Many thanks,
Maeve McAteer Choir Director
