Cantate is a small and vibrant mixed voice choir. The group was formed in Monkstown, Co. Cork, in 2006, and has a very varied repertoire which spans across multiple musical genres. Cantate has been very successful in competition; three time winners of Feis Maitiú's Lynch Perpetual Trophy, winner of Feis Maitiú's Holy Trinity Cup for chamber choirs, and five time winners of the Mixed Voice Perpetual Trophy at Munster's Féile an tSamhraidh. In addition, they perform regularly for charity and corporate events.

Here, the choir performs Coventry Carol (second version; arranged by Martin Shaw). This carol is named after the city of Coventry, England, where the Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors anciently depicted Herod's slaughter of the innocents, as told in the lyrics. Recording took place in Sacred Heart Church in Monkstown, Co. Cork.

Cantate is directed by the award-winning conductor, Elaine Kelly (M.A. B.Mus), who recently conducted the Dublin Symphony Orchestra for their 50th Anniversary Celebration at Christ Church Cathedral.
