Für das Ö1 Salzburger Nachtstudio am 23. März hat mich Daphne Hruby interviewt. Es geht um die Bestrebungen von Nationalstaaten und Zentralbanken, digitale Varianten von Währungen wie Euro, US-Dollar und Renminbi (Yuan)zu schaffen. Die Bedenken hinsichtlich unserer Privatsphäre sind groß. Dennoch sind muss davon ausgegangen werden, dass digitale Zentralbank-Währungen auf dem Vormarsch sind.
Hier der Text, mit dem Ö1 die Sendung promotet hat:
Hand aufs Herz: Wie oft haben Sie in den vergangenen zwei Jahren anstatt von Bargeld Ihre Bankomatkarte gezückt? Wie oft haben Sie Einkäufe digital erledigt und bezahlt? Und wie oft haben Sie kurze Zeit später Werbung für eben jene Produkte erhalten, die Sie kürzlich bargeldlos gekauft oder nach denen Sie online gesucht haben?
Die Covid-19-Pandemie hat den Trend zu bargeldloser Bezahlung befeuert und gleichzeitig den Digitalisierungssektor stark beflügelt. Aber auch schon davor haben Staaten, Unternehmen und Erfinder alternativer Bezahlungssysteme - Stichwort Kryptowährungen - derartige Pläne gewälzt.
Neben der Kryptowährung unterscheidet man generell noch zwischen virtueller Währung und digitaler Zentralbankwährung. An letzterer - nämlich einem digitalen Euro - tüftelt derzeit emsig die Europäische Zentralbank. Das EU-Organ möchte damit einerseits den Bestrebungen privater Konzerne etwas entgegensetzen. Facebook - das sich neuerdings "Meta" nennt - hat beispielsweise seine eigene Digitalwährung "Diem" entworfen, die bald zirkulieren soll. Andererseits will die EU auf dem globalen Wirtschaftsparkett mitmischen. In China ist bargeldloses Zahlen schon in den Alltag eingezogen - manche Geschäfte akzeptieren überhaupt gar keine Scheine mehr.
Auch in Schweden wird gerade eine E-Krone getestet. In Österreich halten die Menschen das Bargeld traditionell hoch - bzw. höher als in anderen Ländern. Doch auch hierzulande sinkt die Bargeldzirkulation. Gleichzeitig bereiten sich österreichische Banken auch auf den Einsatz digitaler Währungen vor.
Digitale Geldspuren lassen sich bestens zurückverfolgen und damit auch überwachen. Einige argumentieren, dass man damit auch Geldwäsche bekämpfen könnte. Andere erachten digitale Währungen als Büchse der Pandora auf dem Weg zum komplett kontrollierbaren und damit auch disziplinierbaren Menschen.

This is a new B-Step tune I made after finishing the redesign of my map. I tried to capture the fun and excitement that I experience when deejaying at The Under, PHC or any of the other cool clubs and events. It has a bit of an Acid twist in the second half, too (made with a heavily processed Cyclone TT-303). Some time ago I worked on a Dub Techno tune called Essence but never published it. Today, after listening to my friend and Placeholder_Club founder Curuxa's ambient piece Hubris, I felt inspired to work on the Dub Techno track again. A mashup of both tunes turned into an entirely new one.

An hommage to the fun times I had (and still have) with the Commodore 64 and Amiga 500.
An old tune, originally produced and released as a single in 1997, but re-recorded in 1999. The chorus uses a sample from the Beastie Boys' album "Paul's Boutique". The sample of the main loop was also used on an early album by the Wu-Tang Clan - but I was not aware of that when I made the beat in 1997.

I produced this Happy-Hardcore tune at my studio, together with Wicked Squad's DJ and founder Spaceant. The video was made by VJ HerrNieDa. The female voice is a former interior minister (home secretary) of Austria. She warns parents of the dangers and evil of rave parties that their children (!) might attend. A drum'n'bass tune from 1998. That year it also reached number 1 in the DnB charts of mp3.com. Hip Hop had always influenced my style of Drum'n'Bass production, hence the deep sub bass (made on a heavily compressed SH-101) and scratches. This version was also featured on the "Inside Aut" compilation CD (2001).
