An an HBCU graduate, Delaware State University, I give my insight into President Trump HBCU executive orders. From Kellyanne Conway "Couch-Gate" to the HBCU Presidents meeting with Trump, unfortunately the actual Executive orders seemed to be overshadowed. With so much "resistance" towards Trump it gets over looked that HBCUs actually suffered financially under Obama. Obama cut $300million towards the pell grant program which effected 30,000+ students. Over 2/3rd of all black college students of qualify for these pell grants and nationally incurred a decrease in enrollment following these cut backs. Although Obama sent a large amount of money to HBCUs, the damage had already been done. In 2017 HBCU presidents are not in any position to reject federal assistance from the President of the United States.
