What It’s About A live streaming company learns the importance of finding their target audience.

Notes from Chris Episode 1945 I believe we can learn as much from failure as we can from success, if not more. It’s with this principle in mind that I offer you a weekly segment called Failure Friday: a collection of short stories all about mistakes, missteps, disasters, and of course, failure.

Just like our Throwback Thursday segment, you’ll hear directly from side hustlers who have struggled to get something off the ground. They’ll tell you a short story of something that went very wrong.

The stories will vary, but often it starts with an idea, what they thought would happen and what really happened—and of course, what they learned.

Today’s short story offers an important lesson about product market fit. It features Dale Wilson. We told the story of his livestream wedding business on Episode #1669. He operates that together with his wife Lydia.

When Covid struck, they thought “surely what we do for weddings will be applicable to other markets.” It sounds reasonable! If you had asked me, I’d say, yep, makes sense.

But of course that’s not how it always goes. You don’t just need a good idea; you need the right buyer. Dale will bring us the whole story.
