Late October will see the release of Zohki’s ‘Colos sal’ EP on Hector Couto’s Roush label, accompanied by remixes from Ninetoes and Max Chapman. Essen, Germany born producer Zohki’s career has tak en a steady climb over the past three years with release s and remixes for Moon Harbour, ViVa Music, Kling Klong a nd Highgrade, here we see the fledgling artist join th e roster of Hector Couto’s Roush imprint with some new material . Roush has been likewise been on the rise over the p ast three years having unleashed material from the like s of Darius Syrossian, Montel, Julien Sandre and Josh Bu tler, making Zohki’s music a perfect fit for the blossomi ng label. Kicking off the EP is percussive groove-led number employing swinging rhythms, chugging bass sequences and swirling vocal chops, Mobilee / Moodmusic artist Ni netoes then reworks the original number with a dub-infused twist, laying the focus on raw drums and gritty stabs and jangling percussion lines. Opening the latter half of the package is the secon d original from Zohki entitled ‘Zechen’, which focused on a de eper feel with bright chord stabs, snaking sub bass hooks and bumpy drums. Max Chapman reworks ‘Zechen’ to follow and reshapes the original into a heads down, hypnotic n umber with an unfaltering and ever-unfolding groove. Last ly to shape up the package Zohki teams up with Ortis on ‘ GTFO’ closing the package on a dark tip with menacing voc als, glitched out synth whirrs and weighty drums.
