What if you could connect with God in just five minutes? Five minutes isn’t a lot of time, but we can either use that time to check out OR to connect with God in a powerful way. In today’s episode, we’ll talk about two simple tools anyone can use that can be done in a short amount of time.

Five minutes is actually not a lot of time. But depending on how you can use it…how it FEELS can be completely different.

Two Simple Five-Minute Tools

  1. Silence: Turn off all the outside noise and sit in silence for five minutes with no agenda but to be still in God’s presence.
  2. Download: Get a scrap piece of paper and write down your messy, scattered thoughts, just to get them out of your head and onto paper to clear the mental clutter.

*Take it one step further: First, download your messy thoughts for five minutes, THEN spend five minutes in silence. See if getting the mental clutter out helps you enter silence and stillness.

This week’s practice:

Set aside five minutes of your day, and instead of checking out, find a simple way to connect with God. Try the practice of silence or download, or whatever will help you focus your heart on Jesus.

Suggestion: Set a reminder on your phone for a time later today that you know you’ll have five minutes, or maybe do this right after you finish listening to this podcast. Everyone has five minutes, so instead of checking out, choose to use that time to connect with God.
