Dr. Sprowl was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the State of Nevada in 2011 and 2012 for her work with Purple W.I.N.G.S., a nonprofit mentoring program for at-risk teens and Dr. Sprowl currently serves as a board member.

Dr. Sprowl also volunteers with:

• Girls on the Run Charlotte
• Alexander Youth Network
• S.C.O.R.E., a mentorship program dedicated to inspiring young women into the science and technology field.
• Recently, Dr. Sprowl received the Outstanding Service Award for her dedication to service in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.
