Lots of scripture reading here! It is important that we build our core theology on the "blatantly obvious" points in this account and that we do not get unduly impressed by our ability in interpreting the fine detail - which can be fun, but can also lead to division over marginal points of theology. Jesus went all the way, submitting fully to the plan for the final part of his mission on Earth. John's account is laden with detail that could only be recalled by an eye witness to the events. He wants us to recognise that the account really is true and demands a believing response from us.
