I'm happy to share the music I created for the Hello Ranger podcast, which launched in June and recently completed their first season.
NPT023: Inspired by Mammoth Cave National Park, December 2017. Caves can be frightening if you have claustrophobia or fear of the dark. They can also reveal wondrous sights if you overcome those fears.
NPT021: Inspired by Denali National Park and Preserve, June 2017. When visiting Denali, everyone wants a peek of the highest mountain in North America. Unfortunately, the clouds don’t always cooperate and you’re left imagining the view while considering the complicated history of how the mountain’s name has been changed over time.
2016 was the National Park Service's 100th birthday and it inspired me to write "Happy Birthday 100 Times" during a visit to Yellowstone on the actual day (August 25, 2016).
NPT010: Inspired by Pinnacles National Park, December 2015. When I visited, Pinnacles was the newest of the 59 National Parks, signed into law by President Barack Obama on January 10, 2013. One of the unusual features of the park is a series of talus caves that are home to at least thirteen species of bats. I scrambled through some of these caves during my visit and it made me think about my own mild claustrophobia which has caused me to avoid exploring caves in the past.
NPT016: Inspired by Grand Teton National Park, August 2016. Just south of Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park's Teton Range stands ever-present in the distance, wherever you may roam.
NPT018: Inspired by the National Park Service Centennial, August 25, 2016. Around the 99th birthday, I decided that I wanted to spend the National Park Service's 100th Birthday in the 1st National Park, Yellowstone. This song was written in Yellowstone during that trip.
NPT015: Inspired by Crater Lake National Park, July 2016. The most striking thing about Crater Lake is just how intense the blue water appears. It's mesmerizing and it doesn't get old. I started writing this song while hiking to the summit of Wizard Island, a volcano within a volcano.
NPT013: Inspired by Everglades National Park, February 2016. Invasive Burmese Pythons have become a menace in the Everglades, preying on the small mammals.
