The Manhattans ft Gerald Alston - Get It Ready - THE MANHATTANS were originally: Winfred "Blue" Lovett, Richard Taylor, Kenny Kelly, George "Smitty" Smith and Edward “Sonny” Bivins. Blue and Smitty were out front as the group's strong lead singers. Blue was also the group leader and an outstanding songwriter whose compositions with producer Joe Evans gave the group a string of hits on Carnival Records during the mid 1960s. When Smith became ill in 1970, Phil Terrell stepped in as temporary lead singer until a permanent replacement could be found. In the fall of that same year, Gerald Alston, whose style paid homage to the legendary Sam Cooke took over as lead singer. More a pop singer than either Lovett or Smith, Alston's incorporation into the group enabled THE MANHATTANS to break out of their mold as "doo-woppers" and achieve major national success on Starday/King Records with a Teddy Randazzo love song entitled "A Million To One". In 1972, Blue Lovett's "One Life To Live" reached the top 20 R&B charts. With Alston handling all lead vocals and Lovett providing smooth spoken introductions, THE MANHATTANS moved to Columbia Records in 1973 where they collaborated with producer Bobby Martin on a string of hit ballads including, "There's No Me Without You", "We Never Danced To A Love Song" and "Hurt". The most notable of these ballads was Blue Lovett's "Kiss And Say Goodbye", a platinum selling #1 pop and R&B hit in 1976. In that same year, THE MANHATTANS teamed up once again with producer Randazzo to record "Feels So Good", "You're My Life" and "There's No Good In Goodbye". In 1977, they performed at President Jimmy Carter's Inaugural Ball and since then have received their share of platinum and gold singles, albums, and other industry kudos; most notably a 1980 Grammy for "Shining Star" written and produced by Paul Richmond & Leo Graham. In 1985, THE MANHATTANS, wanting to enhance their show by adding a female vocalist to the act, chose Regina Belle after being introduced to her by legendary New York dj Vaughn Harper. Spending two years touring with THE MANHATTANS, she appeared on the Bobby Womack-produced single, "Where Did We Go Wrong" (a duet with Gerald Alston). She also contributed to The Manhattans 1986 Columbia Records album, "Back To Basics". A year later she was signed to the label as a solo artist. After 16 years with Columbia Records, lead singer Gerald Alston took his turn as a solo artist with Motown Records; while Blue Lovett, due to doctor's concerns regarding his health, decided to turn his attention towards producing and grooming new artists. The late 1980's found THE MANHATTANS pursuing individual interests within the industry. In 1993, all that changed. With their 30th anniversary approaching in 1994, it was the perfect time to reunite. So, along with new members Troy May and David Tyson, a reunion tour was born. On February 25, 1999 THE MANHATTANS were inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame. In 2003, THE MANHATTANS released their first studio album in fifteen years featuring the beautiful ballad "Turn Out The Stars" which became one of the year's best songs. On December 9, 2014 Winfred “Blue” Lovett passed away. On August 15, 2018, THE MANHATTANS will celebrate their 56th anniversary.
Jonte Moore is a pianist, arranger, band and choral music director. He completed a Bachelors of Music degree from Azusa Pacific University and a Masters of Music degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He now serves as the Music Director at St. Stephen Baptist Church in La Puente, California. His gift has taken him internationally, as he's directed numerous concerts, and facilitated various clinics, sessions, and conferences. Jonte has toured and recorded as a keyboardist with a wide range of artists, including a recent trip to a Global Worship Conference in South Korea, where he played with world-renowned Gospel/Christian recording artist, Tommy Walker. I started a Recycling business in 1993 back then things were different than today then it was like everything I touched I made money. Today it is a new challenge but to those have scrap in their blood. To get started i run a ad in the Atlanta yellow pages that was what got me started actually I had no idea about electronics,I meet a man in Atlanta who I canâ??t tell his name he was worth millions. And he said to me I want you to go to different companies and I will tell you what kind of telecommunications to get any other materials to get And I will buy it all from you and he told me many companies to go to which I cannot say who. I remember one of the deals I paid $350.00 for Telecom scrap and sold it for $1,500.00. I said to myself I love this business. I use to watch Dallas you remember JR and I would say to myself man I would love to live like that little did I know in time I was going to live that kind of life. I loved watching JR doing his deals I learned so much watching him like one time I asked someone to buy their TV Station and she I didnâ??t want to sell so I bought the Building and jacked up the rent so she moved out and I put my tv Station there I donâ??t say it was right but to me it was just business to me I put a million dollars in equipment the first digital station in the area. But I would like to talk about Recycling the first show how I think our environment is being destroyed and what is destroying it for what goes in the ground and the air. And the money came from recycling. For instance can you tell me what items have in side them when you call me to Recycle youâ??re product I to have a sample to determine the what is valuable or a pollution usually if you ask me to Recycle a product I know the content and all products has what is called a MSDS which means material safety data sheet.

Some will roll around on the floor wrestling with their child at the drop of a hat â?? or race shopping carts through the parking lot of a local grocery store, whooping with joy. Morris Edward Hyche hails from Niagara Falls, New York and began singing around the house during his preteen years. Since arriving in California, heâ??s worked or interacted with the following entertainers, musicians and actors: â?¢Janie Bradford - songwriter. He sang on the demo for the B-side of Diana Rossâ?? hit song Muscles, "I Am Me". During the 1960's, and in the decades that followed, His Father Fred, had established a succession of important Jazz Clubs in the south and west sides of Chicago. Most notably, the Beehive, and the Velvet Lounge. The Velvet Lounge is known by aficionados worldwide as one of the cradles of contemporary jazz. Dozens of acclaimed albums have been recorded at the club, including a series of live recordings featuring Anderson himself on the Delmark label. As a teenager, Gene realized that his Father was preparing him to play and record in his band. His direction however at the time was not jazz but, rhythm & blues. Even though on practically an hourly basis he was not only receiving his Father's musical tutelage, but also from greats that included David Sanborn, Eddie Harris, and Dexter Gordon, just to name a few. Gene went on to establish groups back in the day that landed him recording contracts with labels such as A&M and TK Records. Gene is determined to not only bring his expertise, talents, gifts and his legendary roots to every project - but to launch a sound of his own which he likes to describe as Jazz for the New Millennium. Gene has also spent many years in finance for the funding of Motion Pictures and Music Ventures. The album featured Paul Gilbert on guitar and received massive radio airplay that catapulted Black Sheep to one of LAâ??s top drawing bands. Black Sheep shared the stage with major rock bands like Uriah Heep, Saxon, Great White, WASP, Stryper, LA Guns, Steeler, Keel, Armored Saint, Odin. Willie, revered by many as a metal pioneer, known for his outrageous parties held at his rehearsal studio in North Hollywood called â??Wilpowerâ?? where many bands got their start â?? Guns nâ?? While on his last tour, Basse won the Dallas Music News â??Best Male Vocalist Award.â?? Willie also appeared on the TV Show â??Friendsâ?? in the â??Smelly Catâ?? episode.
