In this Easter season Gospel reading, Jesus eats with the disciples. The meal is a reminder of the meal of Himself that is to be shared among the gathered disciples then and now. Jesus also helps the disciples understand His suffering, death, and resurrection. Certainly the disciples were amazed at His appearance and inspired by His claim to be the Messiah. In the Word and Meal that they shared, they experienced the worship that we celebrate each Sunday as we are charged to be His witnesses in all of our lives.
