The student representative council at the Tshwane University of Technology is threatening to disrupt all events to be addressed by higher education minister Blade Nzimande in Pretoria. They plan to picket at the Tshwane North TVET college in Mamelodi where Nzimande will launch the national civic education and health skills programme. Whilst the programme is aimed at preparing students for the job market, the SRC at TUT believes he should instead be addressing the current challenges faced by students as a result of the new NSFAS payment system. TUT SRC President Keamogetswe Masike speaks to us.
