Jesus had just had an encounter with one who was the oppressed in his community. He now has an encounter with one who is the oppressor. Zacchaeus His name, righteous one, pure; His vocation, chief tax collector; His success, he was wealthy; His curiosity, he wanted to see; His determination, he carried out two highly unusual acts; His hospitality, he made his home available; His condition, he was a sinner, he was lost; His conversion, he confessed, repented and made restitution.

Jesus His vision, He looked up; His knowledge, He called him by name, He knew all about him; His desire, I must stay at your house today; His purpose, to seek and to save. Today, salvation has come to this house; this man too, is a son of Abraham; Jesus identifies Himself as the Son of Man.
