Entrepreneurship is key to economic growth, but for people with disabilities in South Africa, the path is far from easy. Many face barriers such as limited access to funding, lack of support, and stiff market competition. Despite these challenges, disability entrepreneurship holds immense potential to drive inclusion and innovation. We spoke to Dr. Nazreen Shaik-Peremanov, Commissioner and Project Leader on the domestication of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, who emphasized the need for inclusive policies and support systems.
