Lee and Dr. Shultz talk with ICKC President Mark Frances Jaeger - This weekend, dog breeders and their show dogs are coming to the MSU Pavilion for the 2023 Ingham County Kennel Club Dog Show. 1661 dogs, 168 breeds and some of the best handlers, trainers and groomers in the country will be vying for ribbons and showing off the dogs they hope will continue on to Florida and eventually Westminster. Listen Saturday as Rick Preuss from Preuss Pets, Doctor Will Schultz, DVM (retired) and Lee Cohen discuss the show and learn about the dog show life from Mark Frances Jaeger, ICKC President. Mark has lived the life of a breeder, a successful show life and has evolved into an AKC judge for several different breeds over the last fifty years. Learn all about what it is like to spot the "pick of the litter" and the work you do to decide if any one dog is show material. This is particularly interesting as Doctor Schultz had a simultaneous career as Mark and due to his reputation, worked with Mark (and most of the other top breeders) so their back and forth on the subject is amazing conversation. You'll also hear Mark discuss the qualifications for becoming an AKC judge and the depth of experience and knowledge you need to pass both a written and an oral exams. When you hear this, you'll be amazed at the types of people who breed and show dogs and they are all here for you to see Saturday and Sunday!! Admission is $12 for the family, $5 for adults and parking is free at the MSU Pavilion on Farm Lane and Mount Hope. If you aren't hyped for the show yet, we can help get you there if you will listen to this weekend's edition of the Mid Michigan Pet Expert Talk Show on 1320 AM WILS on the radio
