This week as we hear the horrifying news from Kabul, and the talks between Biden and Bennet, when the camera caught Biden nodding off, Here in Australia, NSW covid is soaring and we are in lockdown for another week. As we contemplate Rosh Hashanah, another one in lockdown, the shuls are preparing.
Shofar blowing will be available anywhere, it seems. We are in the middle of Selichot, the penitential prayers we say before Rosh Hashanah. At this time, we are making a dwelling place for G-d in this world. And, when you think about it while being at home and davening from there, it’s the optimal closeness to Hashem so states the Baal Shem Tov. While we daven in shul to proclaim Hashem’s glory, Hashem forgoes this so that we will have the maximum glory in our homes.
