‘For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’

NOTES:

• We all desperately desire the love of a good father
• Missing fathers have devastated society - high percentages of adolescent suicide, substance abuse, mental patients and rapists come from fatherless homes; especially young boys suffer from fatherlessness
• Jesus’ prophetic description is not only a child, but a father
• Earthly fathers either “fall off the horse” one way or the other - either they are “all truth”/harsh, disciplinarian or “all grace”/no discipline, all love; Jesus strikes the perfect balance
• And Jesus is “Everlasting”
