Advent begins…
What is Advent? “Advent” comes from the Latin adventus, which means coming or arrival. Thus Advent is the season of waiting and hope: when we look back to Christ’s first coming, God’s incarnation as a baby born in Bethlehem, as well as look forward to His second coming, when He will return to renew and redeem every part of fallen creation. Jesus Christ has come and will come again! #RenewAdvent
Call to Worship | Scripture reading: Lamentations 3:19-26
Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall! My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Scripture reading: Isaiah 64:1-9
Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down,
that the mountains might quake at your presence—
as when fire kindles brushwood
and the fire causes water to boil—
to make your name known to your adversaries,
and that the nations might tremble at your presence!
When you did awesome things that we did not look for,
you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
From of old no one has heard
or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
who acts for those who wait for him.—Isaiah 64:1-4
Praying in the Kingdom: The Lord’s Prayer (together)
Our Father, who is in heaven, holy is Your name.
Your kingdom come; Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Benediction
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
—1 Timothy 1:17
