When someone in August's class asked him about a little braid he had and what was it for, he just decided to cut it. Via asked why would he cut it off if it took him years to grow it. When he was going to bed, his dad came in his room and asked him if the day was good at school. August said it fine. Then his mom came in and read him a story. Then, August explaines that starting in an actual school was kind of hard for him. He said he was used to having more free time and that he wasn't used to all the quizzes. He hangs out with Jack Will a lot in all the classes he has with him. He realized that him and Jack Will sat next to eachother in every class they had together. He figured the teachers were told to put them next to eachother. Then, he tells his mom that for his birthday, he wants to have his party at a bowling alley. She is finnally convinced and does it. Then, Halloween arrives. He says it's his favorite holiday of the yer because he can cover his face up. On the day they all wear their costumes, he hears Jack tell Julian that he's only hanging out with August because Mr. Tushman told him to for the beginning of the year.
August is at school and is in homeroom. The students are asked to tell a little bit about themselves. He just says he has a sister and a dog. When the bell rang, he immediatly dashed out and went to his second class, English, and sat at the very back. His English teacher is Mr. Browne. He just told the students what to put in their notebook. Then he told them what they were going to do that year. After that, it was lunch time. He already knew people were whispering about him. As always, he sat alone. Then, all of a sudden, a girl named Summer sat with him. She then realized that thier names were both summer-themed names. Then they both made a list of students that have summer-y names. When the school day was over, they saw eachother and said goodbye.
