Don't be the reason your competitor is smiling. What I mean is I wake up every morning smiling because I know that the vast majority of people that are competing for the space I occupy or holding space I desire are lazy.
At a young age, my great-grandmother told me that whether I liked it or not, my skin was going to work against me. She told me that others would have headstarts and be given opportunities that I would not. She made it clear that I would have to outwork and outperform them just to gain equal footing.
So, you know how I catch those who were given a headstart in this race. I work while they are sleeping. I work while they are lounging. I work while they are reveling in their momentary advantages.
Look, I understand that things may be tough right now. I get it. You may be facing one of the toughest times in your life. I refer to these times as winter moments. It is just plain cold out there. What you have to understand is that winter does not last forever. Spring is coming, but you can't be caught standing still. You should be working to build momentum.
Here is a very important point that you must understand. Spring is coming, but spring is not forever. You must see your spring as the window of opportunity, and we all know that windows close; therefore, you have to seize the opportunities in your spring moment. Your inactivity is tantamount to quitting. Just because you haven't acknowledged that you have quit --- that you haven't given up, does not mean that you haven't.
