This week, episode #110's Fixing Joe podcast guest Juston McKinney comes on the show at a fitting time in Joe's life. Juston is a comedian and good friend and former roommate of Joe's. Recently, Joe has been having issues with his 5 year old son worrying about death. Joe's wife is wondering whether or not introducing him to religion and God will help. Coincidentally, Juston lost his mother when he was six, and so he had to deal with death at a very early age. Juston talks about how this affected him as a child, and how it is still affecting his life today and the way he handles his emotions. Juston tells the story of his father as well, who became an alcoholic and then became homeless as a result. His family life definitely has some interesting twists and turns, and hearing his commentary on them and how his family life has altered him. Juston was a police officer as well before he quickly broke into the comedy industry and became a comedian full time. When Juston moved to NYC, he gained a lot of respect and interest from people in big industries. He was offered two large development deals and then lost all of the money in the stock market crash, so his stories and insight on his depression, going to therapy, moving back to New Hampshire where he grew up, and coming back from his huge loss from the stock market are very interesting and perfect for the Fixing Joe podcast. He miraculously remains positive after all of the bumps he has been through in life, and it is inspiring to hear how he attempts to find new ways, such as script writing, to be happy and find pleasure in life.
