During a productive 1963, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko came up with Stephen Strange. At that time he was the most non-standard superhero among the rest, and even today he looks very exotic in the midst of his colleagues in the world of fantasy. Dr. Strange was created in order to add some magic, or rather black magic, to the plot. He made his debut in the comics about the Human Torch as a master of black magic; stories about him were always surreal and reminiscent of Salvador Dali's pictures, they were filled with references to the occult and esoteric teachings. The comics about Doctor Strange abstractly depict Eternity itself.Photo Sorcerer's Apprentice vs. Doctor Strange (166/365) by JD Hancock is licensed under CC BY 2.0.
