We live in complex times. While we can't always gather in person, we are now serving up FED, a Harlem social club, through FEDBytes: an interactive, virtual series you can join for a taste of community and connection amidst the isolation we are all experiencing right now. In each virtual Byte, you will get to know a friendly neighborhood featured guest, who shares their personal story and what it's like to be them, in conversation with the group. FED will also prepare one recipe that represents that story on the Byte.

In this, the first of the "Non-Food Recipe" specials for FEDBytes, Director of FEDStage and composer Kevin Joest will discuss his current & past inspirations and methods of creating music. Joining us to perform a selection of Kevin's works will be pianist Felix Jarrar, violist Katya Barmotina, and cellist Dr. Bryan Hayslett. The discussion turned to how a "recipe for music" is written by the composer and prepared by the performer, and how producing music and art has changed in the time of COVID-19.

FEDBytes - our interactive series to get to know your virtual neighbor - continues with this talk with Emanuel Shahaf, Israeli political and social activist and advocate of an Israeli-Palestinian Federation as a realistic approach to resolve the conflict over the Land of Israel. Emanuel immigrated to Israel from Germany and studied Aeronautical Engineering at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology). For 21 years, he served the country in the Air Force and the Mossad, in Israel and abroad, retiring as head of station in South East Asia.
