When you're an underage drinker (and we don't condone that type of activity... at least not publicly,) you use whatever you can for booze and even a mixer. When Nick was younger, he and his buddies would always "relieve" the local gas station of the cases of pop that they had just sitting outside with the water softener salt and the propane tanks.

Times were tough, having to choke down a Brandy/Orange Crush. Or a Peppermint Schnapps/Orange Crush. Or a Tequila/Orange Crush...
