In this debut episode of Vanitas, we take a look at the world of Ernest Hemingway. He was one of the most well-known American and 20th century authors, and his life was anything but mundane. Shaped greatly by the social changes around him, Hemingway had profound experiences in both World Wars, and the Spanish War; was a hands-on journalist whom twice interviewed Mussolini; lived among a variance of cultures in Paris, Key West, Africa, and the American West. In his brief latter years, he was plagued by mental illness and paranoia of government infiltration into his private affairs. Here we look further into the possible state of his mind when his life was ended by his own accord at the age of 61.
