A few years ago, reading wasn’t something I did. It was who I was. Reader was my identity and it drove me bats and turned reading into a chore.

Now it’s a good pastime. Though I’m not crazy about it anymore, I’m reading more than ever.

Eventually, I got tired of talking about what I’ve read. Asking people what they’ve read is like asking what food they have in their fridge. It’s simply not that interesting.

And just like eating food out of a fridge, when someone’s well-read, it shows. Either through their wits, their ways of thinking, and how they carry themselves. They don’t need to advertise it.

Here’s something from Lagerfeld:

“I have always read a lot and I still read a lot, but I don’t like to flaunt it or talk about it. If people think I’m stupid, superficial, I don’t care.”
